SUMMER COURSE 2018

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: 15th May 2018

PARTICIPANTS: Girls between the ages of 14 and 17.

TRAVEL: Students will be picked up at the airport.Theyshould bring their passport, ID card or some other means of identification.

ACCOMMODATION: In a university residence in individual rooms. The accommodation includes all meals, daily cleaning of the rooms and the laundering of bed linen and towels. There is a personal laundry service in the residence which is included in the cost of the course.

CLASSES AND EXAMS: Classes take place in Coniston Hall. There is a test on the first day in order to place each student in an appropriate group. Text books and other equipment will be provided.

CURRICULUM:There will be four hours of classes each day. Special attention will be paid to the spoken word, reading and conversation. There will be opportunities to speak with native speakers at meals and during the cultural activities. These include watching films with sub-titles and other activities in which they can practise their language skills.

OTHER ACTIVITIES:Culturalactivities takeplace everyafternoonincluding visits to museums and places of interest in Manchester. There will be a weekly outing to places such as Chester, Liverpool and London. Students will be accompanied by a teacher or a leader.

The longer course(option 2) will include a few days in Scotland.

For those who wish to take part, there will bespiritual and doctrinal activities on offer, which are entrusted to Opus Dei, a Personal Prelature of the Catholic Church. Daily Mass is available on site by the Opus Dei chaplain.

EXPENSES: All included in the price excluding flights to and from Manchester.Theprice ofthe courseincludes full board, outings, cultural activities included in the study plan, transport in Manchester and entrance tomuseums. Students will need some spending money, but we do not recommend that the students dispose of large amounts of money.

PRACTICAL POINTS:

  1. Although the weather in Manchester in the summer can be warm it is a good idea for students to bring a few jumpers, a raincoat and closed shoes.
