Position Title: Production Coordinator

Department: Production

Location: Effingham

Reports to: Pasta Manager

FLSA Class: Non-exempt

SUMMARY :

The Production Coordinator will compile schedules for the Hodgson Mill manufacturing plant. The scheduler will possess strong writing, mathematical and reasoning skills. Proficiency with Word, Excel and related applications is essential. This position requires strong working knowledge and experience with milled food products, material storage structures, raw materials, SKU’s, customers etc. Self-motivated, effective communicator with leadership skills. Attention to detail and strong analytical skills are essential. Ideal candidate should beprocess oriented, able to work independently, but is a team player. Must have effective oral and written communication skills; Meet schedules and time lines; establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships. Problem solving skills.Cycle counting and inventory skills required.

RESPONSIBILITIES :
Key responsibilities include loading and managing the production schedule for the plant to ensure on time delivery, low inventory and operational efficiency.

Responsible for the short-term capacity requirements.

Develops optimum run sequencing and run frequency of product to eliminate changeover, allergen cleans and positively impact plant income.

Participate in production meetings to communicate production status and line execution.

Works closely with the PurchasingManager and manages the day-to-day capacity planning and materials necessary to meet customer due dates.

Analyze plant business, recommend and implement programs to maximize service and minimize cost.

Monitors daily sequencing of all production areas.

Maintain timely communication of changes and issues to management, supervisors and warehouse personnel.

Schedule production lines to gain optimum capacity and efficiencies.

Maintain a balanced schedule and advise management of capacity constrains and underutilization; Identifies and resolves capacity constraints. Checks ten day report daily and alerts Plant Manager and production supervisors of product that is going to be needed to be produced to avoid shorting any loads.

Ensure all scheduled dates are maintained and kept current; update board and ensure supervisors are updated of changes.

Prepare and distribute production schedules and assist in coordinating production activities to ensure production and quality meets customer specifications.

Review and verify shift production, cycle count production if necessary.

Perform random cycle counts daily.

Assist with monthly and year-end plant inventory.

Miscellaneous duties as assigned by the manager.

REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED or two to three years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination.
Prior scheduling experience required, 2 to 3 years scheduling experience or strong food manufacturing knowledge related to planning and operations.
Strong written, mathematical and reasoning skills.
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written are required.

Computer skills: MS Word, Excel and varied company software.

This position is under the direct supervision of the Pasta Manager and is responsible for the detailed scheduling of all production lines filling and packaging. This includes but is not limited to meeting specific marketing, production, and shipping cost requirement.Ensuring the completion of manufacturing desired orders to support timely delivery, inventory control and customer satisfaction.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

There will be time spent in the warehouse and packaging area so this position often requires exposure to typical manufacturing areas where under certain conditions the use of personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, and hygienic precautions, such as hairnets, are required.Much of the work environment is not climate controlled.Extended hours may be required as needed.
