In SafeCom Go Canon version 20*15 there is a problem if the Location field is empty on the Main Canon webpage. The SafeCom Go Canon version 20*15 will copy the location value from the main Canon webpage to the Location field in the SafeCom Go Canon configuration page. If however the Main Location field is empty, then a null value string is inserted in the SafeCom Go Configuration location field.
This null value string results in a Http: 500 error when attempting to open the SafeCom Go Canon Configuration page in an Internet browser.
The problem is fixed in version 20*16
How the problem looks like:
The workaround is either to ensure that the Location field in the Main Canon webpage is filled out, or manually use scdevutil(SafeCom Device Utility program), to add in a Location value in the SafeCom Go Canon setting.
Either workarounds will bypass the Http: 500 error.
- First Workaround: Ensure that the location field on the Canon main webpage is not empty:
- Login at the Canon device webpage:
example - If prompted for login, make sure to login as an administrator
- When Logged in, then In the right hand side of the screen, click the Settings/Registration
- In the left hand side, in the Management Settings section, click the “Device Management”
- Then click the “Device information settings”
- Make sure to fill in something, like “Building 4 basement” or the like
- When text has been entered in the Location field, click the OK button in the upper right corner.
- Done.
- Second workaround: Ensure that the Location field is filled out in the Configuration part of SafeCom Go Canon using scdevutil
- From your SafeCom server go to Start, Run, and type in scdevutil <Enter>
- The SafeCom Device utility program starts up.
- In the Device utility, type in the IP. Adr. of the Canon device, and click Add
- The device is then added to the list.
- Now rightclick the newly added device and choose “Edit Configuration”
- Scroll to the <Device> <Location</Location> section and fill in a string value e.g. like this:
- And hit the Update button.
- If prompted for login, login as admin and most likely nimda as password.
- Device is getting configured:
- And when done, you can press the OK button,
- And then press the Cancel button to return to the device list overview.
- The SafeCom Device Utility can then be closed.
