The Prince’s Trust is the UK’s leading youth charity offering 13 to 30-year-olds opportunities to develop confidence, learn new skills, get into work and start businesses. The Prince’s Trust targets works with young people who have struggled at school, have been in care, are long-term unemployed or have been in trouble with the law.

The Prince’s Trustwill support 50,000 young people this year. The Prince’s Trust runs seven core programmes to support young people to achieve their goals – Team, xl clubs, Enterprise Programme, Get into, Get Started, Fairbridge and Development Awards – as well as a number of pilot programmes.

Our Client Groups

Our clients are those who struggle at school, are in or leaving care, are unemployed particularly long term or who have been in trouble with the law. We also target help at those with disabilities, single parents or those who have had problems with drugs and alcohol and underrepresented groups including those from Black and Minority Ethnic communities (BMEs), refugees and those from the travelling communities.

What this role involves

This role will provide vital support to The Prince’s Trust London Volunteers and Secondments team, working with staff to ensure effective day to day running of the volunteer programmes. The role will provide an opportunity to get involved with a number of different projects to help create an efficient, productive and inspiring working environment for staff and young people.

The role will work closely with staff to provide day to day administrative support,as well as giving you the opportunity to take ownership of additional projects such as developing signposting documents for volunteers. By becoming an office volunteer you will help keep The Prince’s Trustrunning smoothly and make a difference to our support ofyoung people and volunteers.

This role will give you an opportunity to:

Anticipated role duration and time commitment

  • Commit to support The Prince’s Trust for 6 month period
  • A minimum of two days a week

Reporting requirements

  • Be responsible to a member of ThePrince’s Trust staff
  • Understand and adhere to the volunteer management requirements of The Prince’s Trust for this role

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Updating records on the Trust on Track database (training for which will be provided)
  • Carrying out desk based research to put together signposting resources for volunteer mentors
  • Providing administrative support assisting with the recruitment and management of volunteers
  • Attend induction and initial training course
  • Attend ongoing training as required by The Prince’s Trust
  • Confirm in writing that you have read and will adhere to the relevant policies and procedures of The Prince’s Trust, such as Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Confidentiality agreement
  • Maintain contact with your Prince’s Trust contact and complete all reporting and administrative requirements
  • Undergo a review

Essential

  • Experience of using Microsoft Office IT packages
  • Good communication skills and confident using telephone and email to organise appointments and meetings
  • Good attention to detail
  • Commitment to the aims and values of The Prince’s Trust
  • Understanding of the issues facing The Prince’s Trust’s target groups
  • Ability to relate to and empathise with young people and their aspirations
  • Good interpersonal skills, approachable

Training

This is likely to be a mixture of face-to-face training and e-learning exercises.
