Sealed Container Challenge
Goals:
§ Demonstrate your knowledge of ecosystems by constructing a self-contained ecosystem.
§ Design an ecosystem that outlasts those that are constructed by others in the class to win a prize!
Requirements:
§ Container (pop bottle, sealable glass jar, etc) and contents must be recycled, recyclable/reusable, compostable, etc. In other words, this challenge should not negatively affect the environment by adding waste to landfills.
§ Container must be completely sealed off from the outside environment except the sun.
§ Sealed container must contain all the components of an ecosystem (look in your notes if you don’t know what they are).
§ Sealed container must contain at least one thing with signs of life.
§ Summary/explanation of the created ecosystem and how you decided to design it the way you did.
§ Hypothesis for how it will turn out and how long it will last.
