Get ready for a TAG overnight adventure!

Pittsburgh, PA--- April 8-9, 2005

This year the TAG students are invited on an overnight adventure that will explore areas around the city of Pittsburgh, PA. Our trip will include three stops--- The Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium, The Carnegie Science Center and the Carnegie Museum of Natural History. Join us for a fun filled time!

The Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium

Enjoy the wildlife on displays at the zoo and aquarium. This zoo houses animals representing over 400 species, including 32 endangered species. The aquarium is a 45,000 sq ft state of the art facility that contains 380,000 gallons of fresh and salt water and over 40 exhibits. Exhibits include an Open Ocean Tank, Amazon Rainforest and Stingray Tunnel. Check out their website for some awesome information about your favorite animals. The zoo all offers souvenirs at several gift shops.

The Carnegie Science Center

Check out how cool science can be at this unique facility. The four floors of this museum are loaded with exhibits ranging from Exploration Station, SeaScape, Science and Sport to the USS Requin Submarine. The Carnegie Museum of Natural History

Our last stop is also our overnight destination. We will participate in their Solve the Museum Mystery Overnight Adventure. You will be using DNA analysis, fingerprinting and other sleuthing skills to solve the case. You will also explore the exhibits, experience hands-on activities and see an Earth Theater Show. Then you will sleep among the zebras, bears and other wild animals. After a few hours of sleep, you will have breakfast and visit the Discovery Room and the museum store. Important Trip Information:

  • The trip is open to all TAG students in grades 4-6. We will also be taking 20 adult chaperones (we have to limit our numbers based on transportation and program capacities, to be fair to all- one adult per family please)
  • The cost is $39 per student and $41 per adult (ALL participants must be pre-paid) and a $10 deposit is required per person (checks should be made out to Logan Hocking Schools)
  • Registration forms & deposit MUST be turned in to Mrs. Hayward by Friday, January 14th
  • Balance will be due no later than Friday, March 4th
  • We will leave from LHMS at 8:15 SHARP on Friday and return around 2:30pm on Saturday
  • Pack a lunch & snacks to eat on Friday
  • Bring $$ for Friday dinner & Saturday lunch at a fast food restaurant & for any souvenirs you may wish to purchase
  • ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST ride the school bus
  • Additional information will be offered to you closer to the travel date.
