The Penn-Shank Memorial Scholarship
In memory of
Edwin G. Penn IV and Walker Shank
(Martinsville High School alumni, class of 2000)
Eligibility Requirements:
1. A senior in good standing at Martinsville High School.
2. Must attend a two-year or four-year college or university in the 2015 fall semester.
3. Must be able to attend Rooster Walk 7 on May 23rd or May 24th (free ticket will be provided to scholarship winner).
Selection guidelines:
1. This scholarship is selected by a panel of judges using a double-blind jury format. The winner is chosen based on academic merit, leadership and school/community extracurricular activities.
Amount:
1. This is a $4,000 scholarship. It will be awarded in four installments: $1,000 per year over four years, assuming the student maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.0 GPA or higher at his/her college or university.
Directions:
1. Complete all sections of this application.
2. Write an essay (at least 200 words; typed; double-spaced) on where you see yourself five years from now.
3. Submit two sealed letters of recommendation.
4. Include your resume with school and community extracurricular activities.
5. Include your official high school transcript.
6. Your completed application form should be delivered to an MHS guidance counselor by May 8th.
