The 8th Premiere Asian Licensing Awards - LICENSING & APPLICATION GLOSSARY

A. Licensing Terms

Licensed Promotion: Events that generate awareness for the promotional partners, of which a licensed property is the focus.

Licensee: The party that acquires the rights to utilize a property, usually for a retail product but sometimes for promotional use.

Licensing Agent: A company or individual that acts on behalf of the licensor in launching, administering and/or evaluating a licensing program. The agent takes over many of the licensor’s duties, with approval by the licensor, in return for a commission.

Licensor: The property owner (including brand owner)

Net Sales: The sales amount to which royalties are applied. Usually is the wholesale price to retailers less certain allowable deductions.

Promotions: Events that support a licensing program by generating awareness, including sweepstakes or contests, discounted merchandise, live appearances, exclusive product lines at retailers, or other elements.

Territory: A specific geographic region.

B. Application Terms

Company Logo: The official mark or image that the company uses on product, packaging or for marketing purposes.

Contact Person: The individual who is responsible for information provided in the application, and can be contacted if additional information is needed.

Entry: The application form being submitted

Nominated: The company and/or property that is the subject of the application

Sales Projection: The amount of sales planned for a single item, line of product or a total licensing program. This can be expressed in either units of products or dollar volume.
