** 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 “...God loves a cheerful giver.”… Please notice the offering box in the entranceway; we joyfully place our offerings in the collection box. Your contributions to God help us preach the Gospel here in Cedar Key, around the world and carry out works of benevolence to the glory of Christ our Lord.

Welcome Visitors and Members! We hope that your experience today will add something meaningful to your life in Christ Jesus. If you are new to the area and would like more information about this church, let us know. If you are just visiting our island community, then we hope to see you again. Would you like to confess your faith in Jesus Christ and repent of your sins today? Come forward during the last song and we will assist you in obeying Christ as Lord – or let us know your desire some other time. We can arrange a time for your baptism into Christ. If you are a Christian and wandered away from home with the Lord, you may also make your desires known and we will pray for God to forgive your sins, and fully restore you to Jesus Christ and joyful fellowship with other Christians.

CKCOC Food Pantry needs donations of canned vegetables, fruit and meat needs of hungry citizens who ask church for help on days when community food bank is not distributing food. We also have need for clothing in good condition. Soon we will make have more convenient place to store food and clothing. Thanks for all donations that are being made!

We received our schedule for the upcoming year at Lowell Correctional Institute:

Beginning in the New Year Thursday January 1st from 1:30-3:30pm Binkley Ministries will be on the Main Unit Schedule for 1st & 3rd Thursdays. Chaplaincy appreciates your willingness to volunteer. Looking forward to hosting you on 1st and 3rd Thursdays of every month.

*We (David and Galina) will be conducting classes at this large penal institution using the fine curriculum produced by New Life Behavior that helps people willing to participate, discover new possibilities from the Scriptures. We ask for your prayers as we launch what we know will be a difficult but hopefully rewarding ministry for our Lord Jesus Christ as some learn about the love of God. We always know that God is with us in these situations.

We spoke with Bubba Castell yesterday. He is feeling so much better and was able to even laugh about the comparison of this year with last year when he had so many health problems. He is hoping and searching for a place in or close to Cedar Key so that he can participate regularly with the activities of the church. He sincerely appreciates our prayers!

January birthdays: Robert – 01/20, Grace 01/22, Vince 01/26;

Bible Question: What did Micah prophecy about the coming of Christ?

A Solo Mission

Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come to do your will, O God, as it is written of me in the scroll of the book.’” (Hebrews 10:7 ESV)

Old Testament prophets taught that a Messiah was coming at some point in the future. Jesus is the Chosen One who was sent from heaven on a mission of the greatest consequence. The writer of Hebrews refers to the a quotation from Psalms 40:6-8

Which of the mighty angels could God send on such a mission of the greatest kindness to all people? (Michael, Gabriel, et al)

How many angels are there? Which one could God ask to die for us mere humans? On the other hand - many may have been willing to die for the Son of God!

(Hebrews 10:4) Animal sacrifices prescribed in the Law of Moses were not capable of removing sin. Even so, they were commanded and people were responsible to obey God.

(Hebrews 5:5-7; Hosea 6:6) What God has always desired from all people is the sacrifice of sincere and faithful hearts. We please God when we serve him wholeheartedly to the best of our ability!

(Hebrews 5:5) God looked ahead to a time when He would prepare a physical human body in the womb of Mary. The physical body of Jesus of Nazareth was sacrificed on the cross as the ultimate and final sacrifice for sins.

(Hebrews 10:8-9) Christ did away with the requirement for sacrifices specified in the Old Testament when He became our sacrifice. We have no need to offer animal sacrifices because Christ is our sacrifice when we obey the gospel and live for Him.

(Hebrews 10:10-12) Jesus did the Father’s will. Now we submit to the Father’s will by obeying Christ our High Priest seated at God’s right hand.

Are you trusting in the sacrifice that Christ made to remove the guilt of your sins? Here the invitation of Jesus today. Come for He loves you so. DB
