AWARD SCHEME

Objectives

The objectives of the IMA-Europe Recognition Award are to:

  • Publicly acknowledge vital contributions by member companies/associations and third parties(individuals/organizations) to issues affecting the Industrial Minerals sector,
  • Illustrate state-of-the-art practices by highlighting nominees' and Award winners’ success stories,
  • Create an environment which will sustain efforts undertaken within the sector as a whole and further inspire sector or third party initiatives.

Background

The IMA-Europe Recognition Award was originally set up in 2006 to recognisethird party initiatives that promote the Industrial Minerals sector through educational/awareness projects or that contribute to innovation.

In 2012, IMA-Europe opened its Award Scheme to IMA-Europe member companies for the promotion and exchange of good practices within the minerals sector and beyond on relevant societal challenges.

The IMA Recognition Award winner is elected by an external jury since 2012.

IMA Health & Safety Awards were launched in 2014.They reward good practices which can be easily transferred within and beyond the minerals industry. The Health & Safety Award is an important tool to support and promote the ‘IMA-Europe Target Zero Injury’initiative, which was launched in 2013 and reflects the high priority of safety and health within the Industrial Minerals sector. A very important aspect of the Target Zero Injury initiative is the sharing of good practices. The Award allows for the compilation and sharing of solutions that companies have applied to minimise and, where possible, eliminate safety and health risks arising from their daily operations.

Every two years, the IMA-Europe Communication Steering Committee reviews the list of IMA-Europe’s priorities as approved by the Board, and selects a topic for the Award among these. A call for applications is then circulated to Members and Stakeholders. There are currently four Award categories:
