Leaving the room:
Leaving the room during class time is not tolerated. The only way to learn is to be present. However, I understand that emergency occur.
Restroom:
  • We normally use the restroom every hour (Bell). You need to utilize these breaks at these designated times..
  • You will need to use a Restroom Pass and Pull a star. Each student gets one Restroom Star a month.
  • If you need more than one emergency Star you will lose a DOJO Point and lose 5 minutes recess each time.
Nurse:
  • The nurse should be used for medical reasons only.
Behavior and Consequences:
You are expected to know exhibit the Big 3’s in our classroom.

******Awesome Behavior earns DOJO Points and participation in Donut party monthly if they reach their individual DOJO goals.
Consequences: (Behavioral Management)
  • Verbal warning: Track on DOJO and write in behavior journal!
  • Verbal Warning 2: Track on DOJO, lose one (1) 5 minutes of Recess, write in behavior journal, call home and Write UP!
  • Verbal Warning 3: Track on DOJO, Lose two (2) 5 minute Recess, write in behavior journal, call home, a Write Up (2)and a behavior report sent home to parents and parents have to sign and send back.
  • Verbal Warning 4: Student is sent to the office with three (3) Write Ups. Repeat #3

Incentives
Positive Behavior Reward:
  • Donut Party: Students meeting Hourly DOJO Goals will get donuts each hour at the end of the Month.
  • AR: Students will earn the right get into the AR goody box at 25, 50, 75 and 100% of their goal. If the student earns 100% and is 80 % correct they will be invited to a Quarterly AR Movie Party.
  • Take Home Folders: Students will have a take home folder each week. This folder will go home on Monday and it should be signed by a parent. If the student brings the folder back signed they will get a fruit snack
  • 5 minute Math: If the student takes the 5 minute math with no errors 3 x’s he/she will receive a fruit snack. And be promoted to the next level of multiplication.
  • ELA/ Math Assessments: When a student makes 100% on their a test they will be allowed to get a treat out of the Super Tester Candy Jar.
  • Easy Button: Students may press the easy button each time they turn in an assignment.

Core Curriculum Overview
ELA
Spelling/ Vocabulary:
  • Students will have 20 spelling words
  • Students will have 5 to 10 grade level vocabulary words
  • Write Vocabulary Sentences
  • Spelling and Vocabulary will go home on Monday in Take Home folders
  • Spelling Pre-Test is on Wednesday and Vocabulary Pre-Test is on Monday
  • Summative Test is on Friday
Language Arts:
  • Text Book Knowledge, Note Taking, and Test Taking
  • 8 different parts of speech
  • Punctuation and Capitalization
  • Antonyms, Synonyms, Homophones, and Homographs
  • Poetry and figurative language
  • Propaganda and discuss this type of persuasive writing.
  • Increase writing abilities from sentences, to paragraphs and paragraphs to essays (3-5 paragraphs)
  • Write letters, journal entries, personal narratives, persuasive and informative essay
  • Expected to take a summative assessment quarterly.

Reading:
  • Read fictional and non-fictional passages with emphasizes on different reading styles.
  • Learn the story elements, text connections, understand non-fictional elements, and make personal recommendations (3 a quarter)
  • Expected to take turns reading aloud in order to increase words per minute (fluency) and decoding skills
  • Expected to read AR nightly
  • Summative assessment quarterly
Math:
  • 5 minute math daily
  • Math IEP Goals as well as grade level with calculator
  • Summative assessment quarterly
Social Skills
  • Book and Movie Discussion
  • Formal and Informal interviews
  • Social Skill Topics
