The North Central Florida (NCFL) district of the Eastern Surfing
Association (ESA) held their 2nd regular season contest for 2002 at
Flagler Beach Pier on Saturday, October 26, in 2 to 3 foot surf. Winds
were slight on-shore and Weather conditions held for the day. An
impressive display today from Senior Men competitor and ESA All Star, Bill
Whately and Junior Men competitor Jesse Heilman. Bill Whatley took home
1st place trophies in Open Longboard and Senior Men. Jesse Heilman took
first in the Open Shortboard and 2nd in Junior Men. First place in Junior
Men went to ESA All Star Devon Tresher. Heilman is moving up in the ranks
along the East Coast quite rapidly, placing 6th at the 2002 Eastern
Surfing Championships in Cape Hatteras, NC, in September. Katie McLeod,
Eastern Womens Longboard Champion, took 1st in Open women today.
