THE 27th ANNUAL ROCKET FRESHMAN/JV INVITE

The following is all the necessary information for the Rocket Frosh/JV Invite. The competition should again be top-notch and hopefully the day will be a real positive experience for all. Teams: Cudahy, Kenosha Bradford, Kenosha Indian Trail, Marquette, New Berlin Eisenhower, New Berlin West, Oak Creek, Racine Horlick, St. Thomas More, Shoreland Lutheran, St. Francis, South Milwaukee, Whitnall

Track Surface: The track and jump runways have a seal-flex surface. Spikes measuring no more than 1/4th inch will be allowed. Pyramid spikes only (not “Christmas tree”). The shot put and discus circles are concrete.

Entries: Log on to and enter your athletes as instructed.

Entries will open on Sunday, May 7th at noon and close on Thursday, May 10th at 11:59am (Just before noon). Please complete your entries in this time span. No entries will be accepted after the close date. You may scratch and replace on the day of the meet, but that individual will assume the seed of the individual he is replacing.

Eligibility:We will be running two meets simultaneously.

  • Entries in freshman competition must be freshmen. Relays must be comprised completely of freshmen
  • Entries in JV meet may be from any class. JV relays may include freshmen.
  • Four athletes max in all individual track events.
  • You may enter exhibition relays, but only one relay per team will be scored.
  • Individual exhibition athletes will be allowed in field events. Only top four will be scored.

Maximums: An athlete may enter a total of four events including relays (same as WIAA entry limits). No more than three may be running events and no more than three may be field events.

Scoring: Eight place scoring 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1

Awards: Medals to the top three finishers in all events.

Field Events: Athletes will be allowed 3 trials (no finals) in the shot put (1-1-1), discus (1-1-1), long jump, and triple jump. The long and triple jumps will be run open pit. The long jump will be run on the south pit (furthest from fence) and the triple on the north (closest to fence).

Starting Heights: Will be determined by the lowest starting height entered at check-in.

Running Events: All running events will be timed finals.

Seeds: For each individual event, submit your best estimate based on previous performances. For relays, estimate what you believe that particular group can run based on past performances. Please submit your entries to me using the online procedure described above. All entries are due by 11:59am on Thursday, May 10th.

Concessions: The South Milwaukee Track Parents will be running a concession stand.

Order of Events: The order of events will follow the WIAA specified order of events.

9:15-9:45Weigh-in of implements in the red shed (east side of track)

9:30Coaches meeting and hospitality (Team Room – Brick Building at northwest corner of track)

10:00All field events begin

Long Jump (north runway) – Open pit 10:00 – 12:00

Triple Jump (south runway) – Open pit 10:00 – 12:00

High Jump (north end of track)

Shot Put (north end of east practice field behind the red shed)

Discus (south end of east practice field)

Shot put and Discus flights will be determined after all entries are submitted. These will be run in flights.

Throwers will compete in the same flight with their teammates.

High Jump order will be determined by seed performances.

Pole Vault (north side of parking lot outside of the track) order will be determined by seed performances.

*Depending on number of entries, we may combine the high jump and pole vault into one competition.

Otherwise, we will run freshmen first and follow with JV.

We are running a food drive on this day. Admission is $2.00 OR one donated non-perishable food item. We will donate all food and money to South Milwaukee Human Concerns. Please inform your parents.
