Outlook Web Update Information
There is a “Work Around” Solution for users experiencing the following problems:
● URL Links within mail messages do not work
● Spell check does not work
● Log off asks for id and password –goes into a loop
The solution is to sign in with the domain included in the userid name. For example, instead of just collegj, the userid should read SCCC_ADM/collegj
Password is the same as always. All staff and administrators are on the SCCC_ADM domain.
The OWA (Outlook Web) client mimics Outlook 2003.Users should be moving away from POP mail. We have some users still using another program from home to read their mail
The POP3 connector is working, the one caveat, Users cannot use "sunysuffolk.edu" as there POP3 server name They must change the configuration of Outlook/Outlook Express etc… to use "pop.ammr.sunysuffolk.edu", “ pop.west.sunysuffolk.edu” , “pop. east.sunysuffolk.edu” for the Incoming mail server (POP3).
The Outgoing Mail serve is still "sunysuffolk.edu" for all POP3 users.
Exchange offers portability and now more functionality with OWA.
The new version of Outlook Exchange form the Web that we have upgraded to opens in a view similar to the picture below. The program has the preview pane open. We highly recommend that you close this pane as it is a security risk.
To close this preview click on the icon and change the setting to OFF
The other settings that you can familiarize yourself with are listed in Options –
The Options screen allows you to change settings about your view as well as spell checking features, Out of Office Assistant, etc. Click Save and Close when making changes.
Please be aware that if you are using a dial up service for your ISP from home, you may find the program response slow when using advanced features, such as Spell Check, etc.
