TEAM GRADES ASSIGNMENT

Please give a single letter grade (A+, A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, or C) to your team leader based on the following criteria:

  1. Did the leader give the team a clear direction? In other words, did the team leader clearly articulate the team’s goals (which should have been reasonable and deadlined)?
  2. Was the team leader well organized?
  3. Did the team leader communicate clearly and often about what tasks were assigned and what progress was being made toward completion of those tasks?
  4. Did the team listen well to input from the team? In other words, was the leader open to suggestions?
  5. Did team promote cooperation and consensus? In other words was the leadernot an autocratic, top-down leader?
  6. Was the team leader encouraging and complementary about work that was well done?
  7. Would you want to work with that person again?

Please give a single letter grade to other members of your team based on to the following criteria:

  1. Did the member maintain a helpful, positive attitude?
  2. Did the team member do good work?
  3. Did the team member participate in decisions well and contribute good ideas?
  4. Did the team member meet assigned deadlines?
  5. If you were leading a team, would you want this person on your team?

Please write a brief sentence explaining why you gave your team leader and each team member the grade you did and e-mail them to us at nd on or before December 18. Your grades and comments will be kept in strict confidence, and if the comments are shared, they will be done so on an anonymous basis.

It is vitally important that you give your team leader and team members a fair grade based on their contribution. The grades you submit will not be shared. If someone did not contribute to the team effort at a high level, do not give that person an A. We see too many As that are given just to be nice. Remember, we have a pretty good sense of who is doing good work in the class, and giving someone an A who does not deserve it makes you look bad and does not make the other person look good…we know better.
