DearKatherine,

The New Forest & Hampshire County Show Horse Committee hope your members will be interested in the classes we are offering at our 2014 event. If you are able to include this information on your website or in your members newsletters we would be very grateful.

The New Forest & Hampshire County Show ( received2400 entries for our 180 equestrian classes at our 2013 show with1573 competitors coming forward. We continue to offer competitors quality competition through Horse of the Year Show, Olympia and Equifest qualifiers. Our Show affiliates to forty equine societies who offer their rosettes and qualifiers to successful members.

The New Forest Show has considered and, where possible, reacted to views expressed in emails, letters and verbal comments received from competitors and the general public. Rings running late causes annoyance to competitors and spectators alike so consequently we rationalised our timetable in 2012, with only minor adjustments needed in 2013 we feel confident our ring programme for 2014 is comprehensive whilst realistic.

OurWorld Breeds InHand (Excluding British M&M Breeds), and World Breeds Ridden (Excluding British M&M Breeds) create an opportunity for unique breeds to showcase their protégée at County level in the large West Arena on the Tuesday of the Show (29th July). The Lusitano In Handand Lusitano Ridden have also moved to the large West Arena on Tuesday. The Competition Pony is now open to 15hh and under and has moved to Tuesday to be in the West Arena too.

Tuesday is traditionally Hunter day with ridden classes for restricted, amateurs, weights and workers, also In Hand Hunter Breeding, Competition Horse and Irish Draft classes offer many HOYS qualifiers. Our Mountain & Moorland Ridden Olympia qualifying classes offer direct passage to the final competition. The usual prestigious Mountain & Moorland HOYS workers use the whole of Show Ring in the afternoon. Flat and Working classes for Ex RaceHorses are offered for the fourth year. Arab and Part bred In Hand and Ridden and Side Saddle Concours D’ Elegance are hosted by North Ring. Three Light Trade Driving classes keep East Ring exciting as the afternoon draws to a close.

Wednesday continues to be customarily Mountain and Moorland day with In Hand and Ridden classes for all breeds. Standard Shetlands and Miniature Shetlands compete in their own in hand sections. Many of the Mountain and Moorland breeds can also enter the Rare Breeds In Hand and Ridden classes later during the day.

Four classes make up the Private Driving section very reasonably timetabled at coffee time to give competitors several hours break before the chance to harness up again for the Concours D’ Elegance at teatime. The Donkey Driving class moves to Show Ring followed closely by the ever popular Donkey Parade. This will mean the donkey classes are close to their designated parking area.

Thursday is always a very busy driving day with three driven hackney classes, the coaching marathon and Horn Blowing competition culminating in the unique Supreme Harness Championship! Our usual Riding Horses, Hacks,Maxi and Ridden Cobs grace West and North Rings whilst the ridden Coloureds compete in East Ring. Show Ponies and Show Hunter Ponies compete in the whole of Show Ring. The ring is then divided for the In Hand Coloured and Show Pony Lead Rein, First Ridden and Show Hunter Pony Lead Rein to follow. The New HOYS Part bred Arab Ridden class follows these sections. Mountain and Moorland leading rein and first ridden remain in North Ring.

Overnight stabling for all three days of the show is available again this year. We realise this will be a financially challenging season for competitors and owners so it’s been our aim to attempt to offer a variety of classes that give the opportunity for an animal to enter more than one class under several different judges. Hopefully this will enable competitors to maximise their journey with one animal or ‘box share’ with friends.

Do let us know if there is any more information you would like and we will be happy to send some through to you.

Kind regards,

Susie
