The Myra L. Frank Memorial Graduate Scholarship was established in 2005 by the Los Angeles Chapter of WTS to encourage women to pursue career paths in transportation.The scholarship is awarded to women pursuing graduate studies in transportation, planning or a related field.This scholarship honors Myra L. Frank, who was instrumental in the founding of the WTS/Los Angeles chapter and actively served as a WTS member for over 15 years. Mrs. Frank was dedicated to her role as a WTS mentor and supported WTS in all of its programs during her career. As Principal of Myra L. Frank & Associates, Inc., Mrs. Frank was responsible for preparation of environmental documents for many of the most significant transportation and public works projects developed by the California Department of Transportation, Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Southern California Regional Rail Authority, Alameda Corridor, City of Los Angeles and other agencies. Mrs. Frank was also known for her accomplishments in architectural history, in which her firm achieved a national reputation.
The Myra L. Frank Memorial Scholarship is in the amount of $10,000. In addition, WTS-LA will award a second graduate scholarship in the amount of $7,500.The scholarships are competitive and applications will be evaluated on the following criteria: transportation career goals, academic record including curriculum and grades, commitment to transportation as demonstrated by extracurricular activities and/or work experience, writing skills, and recommendation. Minority candidates are encouraged to apply. The selection criteria are as follows:
a.Open to women only
b.GPA of 3.5 or higher
c.Currently enrolled in a graduate degree program in a transportation-related field, such as transportation engineering, planning, finance or logistics, or in the field of environmental planning and science
d.Plans to pursue a career in a transportation-related field or in environmental planning
e.Enrolled in a school in Los AngelesCounty or have residency in Los Angeles County

Rachel Lindt is obtaining a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning at UCLA. She is pursuing a dual-concentration in Transportation Policy and Planning and Design & Development with a particular research and professional interest in the intersection of transportation and design. Currently, she is researching how underutilized urban alleys can be converted into multi-beneficial green alleys for communities. Her other interests include biking, cooking, yoga and exploring the diverse taco offerings of Los Angeles.
