The Moray Youth Art Prize- COMPETITION & EXHIBITION 2017

An open call for artists between the ages of 13 and 19 to submit a painting or drawing of ‘something’ that inspires you! Deadline- 3rd. November 2017

To enter- send an e mail with an attachment of a photo of your piece of work to-

REMEMBER to include a title, your name, e mail address and contact number.

Successful artworks will be exhibited, and winner will be announced in our ‘Hall Gallery’ from Saturday 11th. November @ MC3, above Royal Mail, in the High Street, Elgin.

CHRISTMAS CARD DESIGN COMPETITION! The Annual Moray Scottish Parliamentary Office

Christmas Card Design competition is upon us again!!!

All entries must be submitted to Mrs Templeton of the Art Department by Tuesday 14 November.

Your design should be on A4 paper, please add your name and age on the reverse.

Mrs Lee’s/ Mr Mullen’s classroom will be open for you to use for this competition on Monday lunchtimes .

Spooky Story Party – Be prepared! – In the Library on Tuesday Get into the spirit of Halloween with spooky stories, tales of terror, shivers & scares. Maybe an apple or two & a pumpkin too. Be there. If you dare! In the library, on Tuesday, from 1.10pm.

Library Today and TomorrowThe Library will be closed to all pupils today and tomorrow. Back to usual on Monday.

S3 S4 rugby. Any students who would like to play rugby at the school should come to a meeting on Monday Oct 30th in G13 please.

We have an S3/S4 match on November the 8th.

Brass Lessons - will resume with Mr Gray on Thursday 26th October. Please check the timetable in the department for your time. (HM)

Swing band rehearsals are on Thursday lunchtime, starts at 1.10 in Mrs Robertson’s room. All brass/woodwind welcome. (AR)

Elgin Academy Strings – Rehearsals will commence from Monday lunchtime in the music department, 1.05 start please. All string players welcome. (HM)

Wear it Pink’ for Breast Cancer - On the 27th of October the Elgin Academy fundraising committee are hoping to raise money for breast cancer. It will be a school uniform day, but with a touch of pink (e.g. pink accessories). We would love to see as many of you getting involved as possible and donating towards an important cause, with a suggested donation of £1. Donations should be given to your registration teacher on the day. (MM)

S1-S6 PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITON - Hello all photographers. The camera club invites you to take part in school autumn theme photography competition. This is open to all years and whether you have experience or not. All entries must be savedby the 31st of October with your full name year and house to student in – camera club – photography competition. Be creative. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd. S1 Parents’ Evening Please note, the date for the S1 Parents’ Evening is Wed 8th Nov- not 11th as indicated in the letter home.

S3 - Drama Club Could all pupils who have previously been involved in the drama club and still wish to take part, attend a short meeting in B55 (Mrs MacDonald’s room) at 1.15 on Friday 27th October.

Friday Food and Faith’…….this club is open to S1 and S2, on Fridays from 1.10pm, in G41. It will take the form of games, video, short talk/discussion and of course some nibbles!

National 4/5 and Higher Geography Revision Sessions - After school revision for Geography will start on Monday 30th October and every Monday thereafter. From 3.20pm - 4.20pm. Highers in B24 and Nationals in B29. See your teacher for the timetable of what will be revised in each session.

For the attention of English students in S4, S5 and S6 - I will be offering a drop-in session for Senior Phase English homework in G12 on Monday lunchtimes. I can advise or simply offer space to complete homework. Please be aware only one computer is available. This will be for help with English only: don’t bring me Chemistry, Modern Studies or any other subject! Drop-in sessions commence on week beginning 30th October between 13.05 and 13.35. Mr. Clark

S5/6 Art pupils - Moray College will be running their Figure / Life drawing evening course for 12 weeks, starting on the 25th October. This is a perfect opportunity for anyone thinking of applying for any Further Education Art Courses that require a portfolio for their application / interview process. Please give your name to Mrs Templeton ASAP as spaces on this course go quickly.

Employment Board - Please remember to check the jobs/employment notice board outside Guidance. There are new jobs advertised every week and many places are recruiting now for seasonal workers and part time jobs. LB
