Wenceslas Lodge No 9836

The Minutes of the 24th Regular Meeting of the Wenceslas Lodge, No.9836 held at the Northfield Masonic Hall, 643 Bristol Road South, Northfield, Birmingham B31 2JS on Monday 1st October 2012.

17 brethren and 5 visiting brethren were present:- All names are faithfully recorded in the Tylers book..

1. With the Worshipful Master in the chair and with proper officers attending, the Lodge was opened with Solemn Prayer at 7:05pm

2.To confirm, if approved, the Minutes of the 23rd regular Meeting of the Lodge held on Monday 2nd April 2011, circulated Prior to the meeting.

The Worshipful Master enquired if any brother had any comments on the minutes- there being none, the minutes were approved by the Brethren and signed by the Worshipful Master by way of confirmation.

3. To Raise Brother S J Chamberlain or G W East

This item was deferred.

4. To invest officers.

This item was deferred.

5.. To initiate Mr Anthony Leonard Perkins, elected in open lodge on Monday 6th February 2012.

The Worshipful Master Invited Martyn Amey to the chair for the ceremony. W Bro treasurer retired to attend to the candidate.

There was a report- Bro Treasurer was readmitted; he reported that the candidate was in attendance and he had covered the necessary fees.

Mr Anthony Perkins was initiated according to ancient custom. The working tools were presented by the three Grand Officers in attendance -all of them Lodge Founders.

Bro Perkins retired to restore himself to his personal comforts. There was a report – the Candidate returned to the lodge room to be treated to a presentation of the ancient charge given by W Bro Alan Dally.

W Bro Amey thanked the Worshipful Master for allowing him to occupy the chair and asked him to return to his rightful place.

The Worshipful Master resumed his seat and asked brother Secretary to record his sincere thanks, in extra large letters, for the hard work of all the brethren involved in the ceremony.

6. To receive a report on the Royal Arch.

As is our tradition, it was affirmed that the Royal Arch was in fact, still there.

W Bro Paul Wong rose to advise that the recent information drive was resulting in exaltations which was wonderful news. It was hoped that this would continue well into the future.

W Bro Martyn Amey rose to ask W Bro Wong a detailed and fascinating question in relation to the Royal Arch. W Bro Wong rapidly responded that he would be delighted to assist W Bro Amey with his enquiry after the lodge meeting. This was met with acclaim by the brethren.

7. To receive a report on Wenceslas Rose Croix.

W Bro M Parkes rose to confirm the future meeting dates for this year and to encourage attendance for all those qualifying brethren.

8.. To receive Subscriptions (£120.00), due on 1st December 2010.

The Treasurer was in attendance and announced he would be pleased to receive the very few subscriptions still outstanding, and that the evening’s dining fee would be £14.00

9. To receive a report from the Almoner.

W Bro C Heywood notified the brethren that he had received information regarding ‘freemasonry cares’ and would be pleased to share this with any interested brother.

10. To receive Propositions.

W Bro Tony Swain to propose as a candidate for initiation Mr R M Wilkes, a coach driver employed by Silver Line Ltd. This was seconded by W Bro Kerry Parkes. Bro Secretary stated he was in receipt of a form P for the candidate.

11. To transact any other business.

There was no other business not requiring notice of motion to transact.

12. To close the Lodge.

The Worshipful Master rose for the first, second and third times to enquire if any brother had aught to propose for the good of Freemasonry in general or of this, the Wenceslas Lodge, No.9836 in particular.

At the first rising

The usual Grand Lodge communications had been received- Bro Secretary advised that he would be delighted to share them with any brother interested in reading them.

Bro Secretary stated that the lodge had received great honours in the last year- W Bro K J Parkes being appointed PAGDC – Plus W Bro J W Ling being an AGDC for the year meaning that two of our founders having first appointments – in addition W Bro Maynard Burton received a promotion to PAGReg.

At the second rising

A notice regarding the Grande Nationale Lodge Francaise Had been received-in essence any brother under UGLE wishing to meet or visit a lodge under this jurisdiction should first speak to PGL.

Bro Secretary had received apologies from the representative of the RW Provincial Grand Master, W Bro Greg Thomas.

Bro Secretary reported apologies from the rulers not present.

At the third rising Bro Secretary reported the following:-

Contact details slips for all brethren were outside the lodge in the tylers book- he asked all brethren of the lodge to complete one of these.

The Lodge had a new website built by W Bro Amey. At this point W Bro Amey rose to give an insight into the future functionality and possible uses for both the lodge and our visitors. More details would be circulated soon. Sincere thanks were expressed for all of W Bro Amey's work to date.

Apologies had been received from 4 members of the Lodge and 5 invited brothers.

There being nothing further offered for the good of Freemasonry in general or this, the Wenceslas Lodge, No.9836 in particular, the Lodge was closed in brotherly love and perfect harmony at.
