TACTE Business Meeting 9/15/2014 Marriott Cool Springs

President Carlette Hardin introduced individuals new to TACTE and the current board members.

The minutes from the previous meeting were approved.

Carlette Hardin shared the financial report. (attached) Registration and expenses for the conference are not included in the report. The grant from AACTE of $5000 is included in the report. The financial report was approved by voice vote.

1.  Cash available of $41,489.24

2.  Total expenses of $3,739.68

3.  Total assets of $37,749.56

Eric Cummings, public policy chair, reviewed the legislative packet and asked a representative from each voting institution to complete the survey.

President Hardin then turned to the four issues on which to ballot. Voting members from each institution were given ballots. Kerbe Lee made a motion to accept by acclamation the candidates running for treasurer, communications chair, and community college representative. The vote for acclamation passed.

Treasurer, Dr. Susan Gratz from Lincoln Memorial University.

With no nominations from the floor, approved by voice vote.

Communications chair, Dr. Clinton Smith from The University of TN at Martin

Moved and seconded to appoint as secretary. Approved by voice vote.

Community College representative, Karen Siska, Columbia Community College

With no further nominations from the floor, approved by voice vote.

President Hardin then reviewed three other issues on which to ballot. She asked that ballots be collected so that the votes could be announced on Wednesday.

Ballot #1 Should TACTE, as an organization, support the EPP Guidelines proposed by the State Department of Education?

Ballot#3 Should vendors be allowed to display at TACTE conferences?

Ballot#4 Which of the two design, the old or the new, should be the TACTE logo? The flag on the present logo is turned the wrong way.

Announcements:

Julie Baker announced the EdTPA event on November 13, 2014 at Austin-Peay.

Ashley Smith announced the AMLE Conference on November 6, 7, and 8 in Nashville.

Karen Marklein announced the Ayers Institute Leadership Conference on October 22, 2014 at Lipscomb. She also gave a brief overview of the Invest website.

A positive vote for supporting the new EPP Guidelines proposed by the SDOE.

A positive vote to have vendors at the TACTE conference.

A vote to keep the present logo, but put the flag in the right direction.
