The Michigan Department of Human Services is hiring at least 500 individuals to work in children's protective, foster care, adoption, juvenile and home licensing services.

Recruitment and Interview Event
DHS is conducting a series of statewide recruitment and interview events. In an effort to reach a wide range and diverse pool of applicants, DHS has strategically partnered with four Michigan public universities to host these events and GVSU is proud to have been selected. The events are public and open to all applicants who meet the minimum qualifications as described below.

February 22-24, 2011 – GVSU Pew Campus

· February 22 – 6-7:20 p.m.
Eberhard Center - 2nd Floor Auditorium
Information Session: Open to all interested applicants – RSVP is requested

· February 23 – 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
DeVos Center – Loosemore Auditorium
Round 1 Interviews: By scheduled appointment at Day 1 Information Session (others will be accommodated upon special request to or 331-3311)

· February 24 – 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Eberhard Center – 2nd Floor Multi-purpose Rooms
Round 2 Interviews: BY INVITATION ONLY from Day 2

Qualifications
To qualify, applicants must have a bachelor's or master's degree in one of the following areas (current students with an expected May or August 2011 graduation are encouraged to apply):
*Social Work*Sociology
*Psychology*Criminal Justice *Guidance/School Counseling

Please note that individuals with related degrees and work experience are also encouraged to apply.

Compensation

Starting Salary Range: $18.53 - $27.44/hr or $36,698 - $57,294/annum + full benefits

Start Date
DHS anticipates making official offers within one week of the recruitment/interview event. Two upcoming hiring classes will be started in March and May of 2011.

Faculty and staff of CCPS, CLAS and BCOIS are highly encouraged to promote these opportunities to all eligible students as well as excuse students from class for the recruitment process (where applicable).
