Maple Hills PTA Board Meeting
January 4, 2017

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 9:32 a.m. by Darlene Weigle. A quorum was present.

Approval of Minutes

November 30th minutes were reviewed. Minutes will be filed as presented.

Treasurer’s Report - Dawn

December report was reviewed. Treasurer’s report will be filed, subject to financial review.

New Business - Darlene

Focus Day – January 16th, at the capitol building in Olympia. Postcards were passed out to the board, as well as other Issaquah PTAs, with the purpose of writing comments to legislators about education. They will be turned in to legislators on Focus Day.

Lunch for the Break – Maple Hills PTA will be sponsoring the February Lunch for the Break. Each classroom will be asked to donate a certain item.

Membership – Makisha

Currently there are 362 members. FTE is 431. We have enough scholarships for 24 more families. We are still awaiting membership from 3 teachers.

One Time Events

Variety Show – There are 2 students who would like to emcee for the Variety Show. Volunteers are still needed for auditions, dress rehearsal and the 2 shows.

Auction – need to find a chair for next year’s auction ASAP.

Ongoing Programs – Darlene

Yearbook – Jackie Firth has been communicating with the company who will be doing our yearbook.

ISF Report – Jenna

Dining for Kids is tonight at Zeek’s pizza.

Principal’s Report – Ms. Tapper

There is a teacher shortage in Issaquah and around the country. Community help would be appreciated; encourage people who are certified or considering teaching to think about applying in Issaquah. This includes teachers, sub teachers, EAs and sub EAs.

Olympia field trip – Currently there are no available date in Olympia. We are on the wait list and will continue to check in to see if a date has opened up.

Traffic light for the school zone is in the works and, according to King Co., will be installed by spring.

The sound systems in the gym and multi-purpose room are going to be replaced.

President’s Report – Darlene

Financial Review – There is a committee in place and the review will be completed this month.

Nominating Committee – We have one board member on the committee (Kim), and are looking for two more.

Volunteers–Rebecca

Volunteer of the Month–no one nominated for December.
