MEETING

May 17, 2010

The meeting was called to order at 7:03 pm by President E.L. Smoogen.

In attendance were board members E.L. Smoogen, Sarah Carmichael, Lorrie Gould, Gilann Bourne, and Architectural Committee Chairman Jim Gould. Also present was home owner Roy Moyer.

The minutes of the January 13thmeeting were approved (Smoogen/Carmichael). There was no March meeting because of a lack of a quorum.

With the arrival of our guest speaker Steve Searles, the meeting was suspended temporarily. There have been a couple of calls concerning bears in the tract, so Mr. Searles was invited to speak. The following is a brief synopsis of his talk.

We have the following wild life in Mammoth at this time. There are bears, bobcats, cougars, coyotes, deer, eagles, mice, moles, raccoons and ravens. It is crucial to keep yards clean and garages closed and locked. If you have an incident, call Steve at 760-937-bear or in the middle of the night call 911 and the police will respond. Both are equipped with non lethal weapons. The bears are being held back from entering the back country this year by the heavy snowfall.

If you walk your dog at night and confront a bear, encourage your dog to bark. Bears are timid and should run away. If not, holler at the bear and clap your hands. In other words, make a lot of noise.

Incidents in The Trails are low and it is not prudent to trap and remove bears because another will move into the territory in a very short time. We must learn to co-exist and be responsible.

The Treasurer’s report was given by Sarah and approved (Gould/ Smoogen). A motion was made and approved to get some comparison prices on our insurance (Gould/Bourne).

Architectural Chairman Jim Gould gave his report. The addition to the Solheim home has been approved by the committee and the illegal fence has been taken down.

Gilann offered to make a report on the graffiti and “TP”ing of five homes to the police department. E.L. will talk to the city and see if they have a method to remove the graffiti.

The subject of the annual summer picnic was discussed and it was suggested we have it later in the summer so it will be a little warmer than last year. The Board is open to any suggestions from homeowners as to locations or type. (The Westin, another hotel, a potluck on Trails end or at Shady Rest??) Roy said that he would talk to Snowcreek about having it there. Call Lorrie with suggestions at 760-924-2390.

Lorrie will contact the builder of the new home on Wagon Wheel about the pile of dirt left on the empty lot.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:06 p.m. (Gould/Bourne).

Please mark your calendar for the following dates and plan to attend Board meetings. They are open to all home owners and all are welcome.
