Central Processing Representative

Job Title: Central Processing Representative

Department:Administration

Reports To: CPU Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non Exempt

Summary:

Provides and performs functions that assist multiple branches and/or Central Processing Unit as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Scan and electronically file documents in accordance with established guidelines and workflows
  • Sort and prepare incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Postage meter maintenance
  • Accurate and complete data entry and/or electronic processing of various insurance correspondence into The Agency Management system
  • Process data received in electronic and paper format into Agency Management System including: renewals, cancellation, reinstatements, endorsements, and assorted additional insurance related correspondence. Follow all established guidelines and workflows
  • Function in a manner that will prevent errors and omissions
  • Relieve Switchboard for breaks and lunch
  • Assist in personal lines, commercial lines and/or projects directed by manager
  • Stock paper & supplies at office machines and in mail room. Inventory supplies and advise receptionist of shortages sosupplies can be ordered
  • Bulk printing, folding and mailing projects for the agency
  • Various office duties as assigned or directed
  • Adheres to all HIPAA/HITECH policies and procedures in order to protect and safeguard client PHI at all times

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Substantial administrative experience with some college preferred. Insurance industry experience a plus

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as policy forms, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence Ability to communicate effectively with customers and/or employees of the organization

Mathematical Skills

Intermediate Skills. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area.

Reasoning Ability

High Skills. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel and Outlook.

Other Skills and Abilities

Type 40-50 wpm. Skill and ability to operate a computer and office equipment. Skill and ability to organize and prioritize work. Skill and ability or experience in applied Agency Management System or other similar system for client and policy file maintenance a plus.
