LCEF DISTRICT VICE PRESIDENT - JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF) District Vice President (DVP)

Position Description:

The LCEF DVP is responsible for LCEF operations within the Indiana District of The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (District). The LCEF DVP serves as a member of the District Staff, and meets with the Executive Staff, manages the LCEF program in the District, and is the primary LCEF point of contact for congregations, schools, Registered Service Organizations (RSO’s), and individuals seeking the loan, investment, and Ministry Support services from LCEF.

Reporting Relationships:

As a member of the Indiana District staff, the DVP reports to the District President. As an Officer of LCEF, the DVP also reports to the LCEF Sr. Vice President, District National Operations (DNO).

Purpose:

The mission of LCEF is to support the church in its mission of sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ by being Christ Centered Servant Partners, ensuring that funds and services are available today and in the future. Therefore, the primary purpose for service as the District LCEF DVP is to support, encourage, and empower God’s people (the church) to impact Mission and Ministry within the District in order for more people to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

Qualifications:

·  Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, and five or more years of professional experience in one of the following areas:

o  Business administration.

o  Management.

o  Accounting or Finance.

o  Marketing /Sales Management.

·  Preference is that candidates be a member in good standing of a LCMS congregation.

·  Must possess strong analytical skills with an ability to evaluate financial statements and ministry

conditions in an objective manner.

·  Must build and maintain an established relationship with key congregations, their pastors, lay leaders, and church support staff.

·  Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills along with strong presentation skills in order to effectively communicate and motivate in meetings as well as in large group gatherings.

·  Must demonstrate a strong understanding of marketing, promotion, and sales techniques plus the ability to develop and implement the quarterly marketing plan.

Principal Responsibilities:

·  The overall management of the District LCEF Program in accordance with LCEF and District established Policies and Procedures.

·  In accordance with LCEF and District established Policies and Procedures:

·  Develop and establish a congregational visit schedule for selected congregations which meets LCEF national coverage and frequency guidelines.

·  Develop, manage, and implement an ongoing system to cultivate, develop, and nurture strong and lasting relationships with key leaders throughout the District.

·  Develop, manage, and implement a comprehensive marketing process to promote and expand the LCEF reach within the District for LCEF loans, investments, and ministry support activities within the District.

·  Develop, manage, and implement LCEF Loan processes and procedures to expand and monitor loan activity throughout the District.

·  Develop, manage, and implement LCEF Investment and Support service processes and procedures to expand and monitor investment and support activity throughout the District.

·  Provide reports and participate in LCEF meetings and activities as directed by the LCEF Sr. Vice President, (DNO).

·  Serve as a member of the District staff, providing reports and participating in District meetings, Indiana Board of Directors meetings, and activities as directed by the District President.

·  All other administrative duties commensurate with the position of LCEF District Vice President

and as assigned by the Indiana District President, the LCEF Sr. Vice Presidents DNO, or the President/CEO LCEF.

Work Environment:

·  An LCEF DVP will spend a significant portion of his/her time on the road visiting congregations and schools of the District building relationships and meeting the needs of the District. Sunday’s will regularly be spent in congregations and there will be regular evening and weekend meetings.

·  Time will also be required to participate in District staff meetings and activities as determined in

coordination with the District President.

·  Time will be spent encouraging and guiding struggling congregations in consultation with the District President.

·  Office hours will be required as needed for planning, preparation, and reporting.

Special Requirements:

·  Must have an understanding of the mission of the church and LCEF, possessing the ability to articulate the same order to inspire participation in the ministry of church extension.

·  Satisfactory pre-employment background and reference checks.
