  1. GENERAL
  1. The 42nd Field Regiment, RCA (Lanark & Renfrew Scottish Regiment) Association is hosting a Regimental Reunion and celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the official founding of the Regiment during the weekend of 22-25 Sept 2016. Activities and events will be held in Pembroke at the Pembroke Legion and at various locations at Garrison Petawawa.
  1. Throughout this Reunion Call war veterans, former members and present members of the Regiment and the Canadian Armed Forces will be referred to as “veterans”.
  1. This Regimental Reunion is intended for veterans the following units:

1)Pre-WW2 veteran of the L&R Scot R.

2)WW2 veteran of the L&R Scot R.

3)WW2 veteran of the 1 LAA, RCA, (L&R Scot R).

4)Post WW2 veteran of the 59 LAA, RCA, (L&R Scot R).

5)Veterans that served from 1959-1992 with the L&R Scot R.

6)Veterans of 1 AD Regt, RCA, (L&R Scot R).

7)Veterans of 42nd Fd Regt, RCA, (L&R Scot R).

8)Spouses, family members and other guests of the veterans.

  1. Timings are approximate and subject to change.
  1. Other events and activities may be added at a later date.
  1. SCHEDULE OF REUNION EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES
  1. 22 Sept 2016 Thursday (Day 1)

1)Informal Meet & Greet:

a)Timings - 1830hrs to closing (Pembroke), other start times to be set by on site organizer;

b)Locations - Pembroke Branch 72 Royal Canadian Legion, Ottawa to be detailed, Toronto to be detailed;

c)Administration - dress casual, wives or girlfriends welcome (not both), taxis available (at users expense), no lunch being served.

  1. 23 Sept 2016 Friday (Day 2)

1)Check in/Reunion Registration;

a)Timings - 1000-2100hrs;

b)Location - Pembroke Legion, Main hall;

c)Administration - coffee and donuts available, museum open, bars open at 1200hrs, dress casual.

2)Tour of Garrison Petawawa:

a)Timings - 1030-1630hrs. (departure from and return to Pembroke Legion);

b)Location - tour through the Base museum, 2RCHA & RCR unit lines, the Mattawa camp and the Memorial site. Other stops may be added;

c)Administration - lunch arrangements to be confirmed, dress casual.

3)Meet & Greet:

a)Timings - 1630-2400hrs;

b)Location - Pembroke Legion main hall;

c)Administration - Museum open 1200-0800hrs, Bars open at 1500hrs; Buffet style hot supper served 1630-1830hrs, light buffet lunch served 2100hrs, DJ from 2130hrs, dress casual.

  1. 24 Sept 2016 Saturday (Day 3)

1)Reunion Breakfast:

a)Timings - 0800-0930hrs;

b)Location - Pembroke Legion, main hall;

c)Administration - further details to be provided at registration, dress casual.

2)Cenotaph Parade:

a)Timings - 1000-1200hrs;

b)Location - Pembroke Armoury to Cenotaph to Pembroke Legion;

c)Administration - parade to assemble at the Armoury at 1000hrs; RSM to arrange through local reunion co-ordinator, parade route and other details to be arranged through local Reunion Coordinator, parade to include the Regiment, the Regimental Association, antique military vehicles and pipe band, dress for Regiment to be detailed by CO; dress for former members jacket, ties, medals and Regimental headdress – balmoral, Glengarry, beret, etc.

3)Reunion Lunch:

a)Timings - 1200-1400hrs;

b)Location - Pembroke Legion or in front of the Pembroke Legion;

c)Administration - open to the public, burgers, hot dogs and salads.

4)Antique Military Vehicle Display:

a)Timings - 1230-1630hrs;

b)Location - Pembroke Legion parking lot;

c)Administration -Vehicle display and Regimental recruiting display open to the public; other concurrent activities for the ladies.

5)Dinner & Presentations:

a)Timings - 1830-2030hrs;

b)Location - Pembroke Legion main hall;

c)Administration - further arrangements to be detailed later.

6)Reunion Dance:

a)Timings - 2100-?hrs;

b)Location - Pembroke Legion main hall;

c)Administration - music by DJ; door prizes, etc; dress casual.

  1. 25 Sept 2016 Sunday (Day 4)

1)Reunion Breakfast:

a)Timings - 0800-0930hrs;

b)Location - Pembroke Legion, main hall;

c)Administration - dress casual.

2)Association Meeting (Election of New Executive) and Reunion Closing:

a)Timings - 0930-1200hrs;

b)Location - Pembroke Legion main hall or lounge;

c)Administration - Interim Association President to liaise with Reunion Coordinator; dress casual.

3)Closing brunch:

a)Timings - 1200hrs;

b)Location - to be confirmed;

c)Administration - cost not included as part of the reunion package.

  1. REUNION ACCOMMODATION
  1. At the time of writing this document other local hotels and motel had not replied to requests for information however a complete list of all Pembroke hotels and motels can be found on the Internet or through the Yellow Pages.
  1. Hotels and motels available and recommended for Reunion attendees are:

1)Best Western Hotel, 1 International Dr, Pembroke, ON telephone (613) 735-0131; reservation call 1(800) 567-2378; features indoor pool, fitness centre, arcade, fully wheelchair accessible, babysitting service can be arranged, restaurant on site; rooms from $140 + taxes; approximately 4km from the Pembroke Legion.

2)Holiday Inn Express Pembroke, 8 International Dr, Pembroke, ON reservation call (613) 629-1990 features indoor pool, fitness centre, fully wheelchair accessible; rooms from $150 + taxes; approximately 4km from the Pembroke Legion.

3)Comfort Inn, 959 Pembroke St E, Pembroke, ON reservation call (613) 735-1057 or 1(877) 289-9008; features mini-put golf, outdoor play area, BBQ pit, fully wheelchair accessible, babysitting service can be arranged; restaurant next door to hotel; rooms from $115 + taxes; approximately 2km from the Pembroke Legion.

  1. RV and camping sites are available at Riverside Park, Pembroke St W. Cost for RV and camping sites vary depending on services to each site.
  1. Attendees of the Reunion are responsible for their own accommodation bookings.
  1. REUNION TRANSPORTATION
  1. Attendees of the Reunion are responsible for their own transportation to and from the Reunion.
  1. A shuttle bus service between hotels and the Armoury or special arrangements for transportation between hotels and the Armoury will be arranged with one or more local taxi companies, however the cost for using local taxis are the responsibility of the attendees.

  2. Activities on Saturday 24 Sept 2016 - 1 ticket for Saturday breakfast, 1 ticket for lunch, 1 ticket for Reunion dinner and 1 admittance to the Reunion dance party.
  3. Activities on Sunday 25 Sept 2016 - 1 ticket for Sunday breakfast and 1 admittance to the Association Meeting.
  4. Additional in this package are Reunion souvenirs, 1 ticket for the reunion draw and the 2017 Regimental Association membership.
  5. Total cost of Veterans Complete Reunion Package is $120.00.

b)Friday only package (package 1.2)

  1. Activities on Friday 23 Sept 2016 - Bus tour of Garrison Petawawa, 1 ticket for buffet Friday evening and 1 admittance for Meet and Greet with evening light lunch.
  2. Additional in this package are Reunion souvenirs, 1 ticket for reunion draw and the 2017 Regimental Association membership.
  3. Total cost of Veterans Reunion Day Package (Friday only) is $50.00.

c)Saturday only package (package 1.3)

  1. Activities on Saturday 24 Sept 2016 - 1 ticket for Saturday breakfast, 1 ticket for pre-parade coffee/tea break, 1 ticket for lunch, 1 ticket for Reunion dinner and 1 admittance to the Reunion dance party.

  3. Total cost of Veterans Reunion Day Package (Saturday) is $80.00.

d)Sunday only package (package 1.4)

  1. Activities on Sunday 25 Sept 2016 - 1 ticket for Sunday breakfast and Admittance to the Association Meeting with break snacks.
  2. Additional in this package are Reunion souvenirs, 1 ticket for reunion draw and the 2017 Regimental Association membership.
  3. Total cost of Veterans Reunion Day Package (Sunday) is $30.00.

2)Adult guest (16 and over) package group

a)Complete reunion package (package 2.1)

  1. Activities on Sunday 25 Sept 2016 - 1 ticket for Sunday breakfast.

4)Dinner and Dance Only - $35/00

  1. REUNION REGISTRATION FORMS
  1. A blank Reunion Registration form for this reunion is attached to this document as Annex A. The Registration form along with registration payment or proof of registration payment for you and your guests should be completed and returned to Ervin Gerbrandt, 704-115 Niakwa Rd, Winnipeg, MB, R2M 5A8 or by email to 1 Sept 2016.
  1. Payment for Reunion registrations can be made by cheque payable to “42 Field Regiment RCA Lanark & Renfrew Scottish Regiment”,money order, e-transfer (sent to ) or Paypal (pay as a friend).
  1. MUSEUM ARTIFACTS, PHOTOS, ETC
  1. The museum staff has asked that anyone attending the Reunion who may have historical artifacts, photos, newspaper clippings, medals, personal diaries, documents, rifles, old webbing, hat badges, helmet or other artifacts that they wish to donate or loan to the Regimental Museum please bring them to the reunion with you.
  1. In the event that owners of such items as photos, newspaper clippings, personal diaries and documents do not want to part with these items the items will be scanned, photocopied, photographed or otherwise copied at the Regimental Museum and the originals returned to the owners.
  1. It is an offence under the Criminal Code of Canada to transport or carry restricted or prohibited weapons without a pre-arranged and "authorized transport" permit. DO NOT bring prohibited or restricted weapons or ammunition to the Reunion.
  1. CLOSING COMMENTS
  1. In the event that you may know of any former member(s) of the Regiment who may be interested in attending this Reunion and that may not have been contacted please photocopy or e-mail this Reunion Call and provide it to him/her.
  1. Fill in and return the Reunion Call Registration Form by 1 Sept 2016. Your attendance is what will make this Regimental Reunion a success.
