THE LABRADOR BREED COUNCIL

This is a resume of the Labrador Breed Council Annual General Meeting which was held at the Kennel Club on Thursday 19th April 2007, where delegates from 13 breed clubs were present..

Mrs M Brown, Forest Lodge, Slamannan Road, Limerigg, Falkirk, Scotland. FK I 3BN was reelected Chairman.

Mrs M.P.Gill, 77 Cross Green, Otley, West Yorkshire, LS21 I HE, was re~elected Secretary/Treasurer.

The following items were discussed:

Breed Liaison Council Report: Mrs S Walton thanked the Labrador Breed Council for electing her as the breed delegate for 3 years. There was nothing to report as the May meeting had been cancelled; she asked if each club would include items for Liaison Council meetings on their committee agendas so that she could forward them for discussion. She advised that general and not specifically breed items were more likely to be accepted for discussion.

Health SubCommittee Report: Dr Sampson was elected by the Health subcommittee to chair the meeting. The full health committee meeting minutes are available on the website.

Challenge Certificates: It was decided that the council inform the Kennel Club that they wish the extra set of Challenge Certificates be awarded on rotation, and the Labrador Club to be the first in 2009, the clubs who lost CCs in the last rotation to be given preference after Labrador Club. The show's title has to be given as "Joint Labrador Retriever Clubs’ Championship Show". Hosted by ......

Proposal I: Nominations for positions of Chairman and Secretary/Treasurer to appear on agenda prior to AGM. Nominees must be club committee members.

Proposal 2: Only items on the agenda to be voted on at a meeting, any item that is significantly changed or amended to be placed on the agenda for the following meeting.

Proposal 3: It was decided that both A3 Breed Specialist List and A3 Non Breed Specialist List to include 2 breed club appointments. The 2nd breed club classes to count in number of classes judged (minimum 90 required.

It was decided that the Breed Council form a C List incorporating all Breed Club C lists. All clubs agreed to send their C List to the secretary.

Judging Lists: Mrs J K Lewis and Mrs E W Matulla were approved to join the A3 Breed Specialist List.

Mr A C Allen, Mr M Rawlinson, Mrs S Ellis, Mrs E H Rautala, Mr A Brown, Mrs A M Pollock, Mr K Gawthorpe, Mrs M J O'Donoghue and Mrs M Taylor were approved to join the A1 Breed Specialist List.

The Roll of Honour List is produced by the Breed Council for Senior Championship Judges who have made a significant contribution to the Labrador Breed, and who are now considered generally nonactive in Championship Show judging.

If any person who has any queries they wish to bring for discussion at any future Breed Council meeting should bring it to the attention of their local breed club.
