THE KACHIALOV’S TIMES
Spring, Almost
The sunshine gleams so bright and warm,
The sky is blue and clear.
I run outdoors without a coat,
And spring is almost here.
Then before I know it,
Small clouds have blown together,
Till the sun just can't get through them,
And again, it's mitten weather.

St Valentine's Day.
St. Valentines Day is a perfect occasion to express the deepest feelings & love. On Valentine's Day lovers, friends and family members exchange Valentines Day Gifts.Couples also plan out romantic getaway or Valentine parties to celebrate 14th Feb romantically.
Valentine's Day is a festival that cherishes love and romance. The festival falls on February 14 every year and is celebrated in several countries across the world including US, UK, Canada, Japan, France, China, India and of course Lithuania. Though the festival commemorates the martyrdom of a Christian saint called St Valentine, the festival as it is celebrated today has little religious significance. In present times, Valentine's Day has assumed a secular and global flavor and is celebrated by people of all ages and races.
Another noticeable factor in Valentine's Day celebration of present times is that the festival celebrates love in all its forms and is not just restricted to romantic love. People therefore exchange Valentine's Day greetings with their parents, teachers, siblings, friends, sweethearts or anyone special or close to them. The commonest way of expressing love on Valentine's Day is through exchanging cards, flowers and chocolates.
In our school there was the so called "love letter mail." With its help
students could tell about their feelings. This type of mail was also popular with young students. They sent postcards to their classmates and favourite teachers. Everybody was excited and happy. These feelings created real celebration atmosphere.
Live music which played during the breaks made students feel so romantic. Our students can say that they enjoyed the programme of Saint Valentine's Day.

Interview with E. Romanenkov
A traditional annual contest "The Top English Speaker " was organised in our gymnasia. This year the participants were given the topic "Immigration and Multiculturalism". The best speakers showed their speaking talents and knowledge of the English language.
All the listeners and members of the jury were impressed by creativity, originality and speaking talent of some orators. Romanenkov Eugenij has become the best. His oration was considered to be the best in content and presentation.
"I cannot describe winning the contest as difficult. There were two speeches (excluding mine) that I thought were well enough to take a top place. However, I was the most experienced speaker of the three, that is why I had won."
"So, it was not difficult to you because you spend too much time preparing?"
"I did not spend too much time preparing for the school contest, I only
wrote a plan and tried to improvise. “
“This fact just demonstrates the highest level of your English speaking
skills. How did you manage to develop your skills and knowledge?”
“I just played educational games and at present I spend a lot of time reading English literature.”
“So, we can realize that you enjoy speaking English ?”
"Yes, I do enjoy speaking and reading in English, however, I still think of
it as of my second language. Russian is my native and will always be.”
"This year you are finishing school, so have you decided where and what to study? Maybe you have chosen the UK?"
"Yes, I am planning to study in the UK.”
"That is sad that you are planning to leave Lithuania. You will miss "The
Best English Speaker" competition in 2012! Maybe you can wish something to those who are planning to compete next year?"
"I would like to wish them an interesting topic next year, because I believe that if one enjoys a topic, he will give a very passionate speech, which is necessary to win both at school and city speaker's contests."
The editorial staff of the Kachialov's Times and all the students wish
Eugenij all the best and all his dreams come true.
