The Junior League of Yakima is pleased to announce its 2017-2018 granting cycle. This year $5,000 is available in response to community requests for financial assistance.

Mission: The Junior League of Yakima is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership as trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

Community Impact Focus:The Junior League of Yakima strives to impact the community by designing programs with a teen focus, Empowering Girls—Inspiring Leaders. All programs are designed to promote positive self-image and create new opportunities for girls in Yakima.

Criteria for Applicants:

  1. Operate within the greater Yakima County.
  2. Have a local Board of Directors.
  3. Be a nonprofit and charitable organization, and have 501(c)(3) status with the IRS.
  4. Present goals compatible with those expressed in the Junior League of Yakima’s mission statement and current community impact focus area.
  1. Must provide opportunities for volunteerism (may be one-time event) for the Junior League of Yakima’s members.
  2. Provide an example of how your organization empowers girls in Yakima.
  3. The award winner and the Junior League of Yakima shall work together to coordinate a cross- marketing campaign to announce the grant award and market both the award winner and the Junior League of Yakima. This includes, but is not limited to, press releases, a link to the Junior League of Yakima program website on the award winner's website (if applicable) and other cross marketing opportunities. This is a requirement and will be determined prior to the actual award.
  4. Agree to give a 5-10-minute presentation to JLY membership within 60 days of your event or 90 days following the receipt of the grant.
  5. Provide a written article with pictures (optional) within 30 days of your event or 60 days following the receipt of the grant to be included in the JLY internally distributed newsletter.

Restrictions include:

  1. Current Junior League of Yakima projects.
  2. Request for fundraising drives, ticket sales, or political campaigns.
  3. Requests from individuals.

  2. Verification of tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
  3. A copy of the annual budget and most recent financial statement.
  4. A list of the Board of Directors, including addresses.
  5. Any material that will assist the Junior League of Yakima in evaluating this request.
  6. PR proposal for cross marketing.
