THE IRUNGU’S SERVING IN KENYA
We are George and Joyce Irungu. We both came to know the Lord as our personal savior at an early age. We are blessed with four kids Winnie, Ruthie,(twins, 14) Joy (9), and Willie (7). After finishing our ministry training in United States and serving in a local church in Granger Indiana, it was very clear that the Lord wanted us to serve the Lord in Kenya as missionaries. In the year 2010 we started a journey of faith and in August 2012 we came to serve the Lord in Kenya and it has been a great joy and encouraging as we see Lord working alongside us in different ministries.
We are involved in training men and women atMoffat Bible College which was founded in 1929 with a purpose of training Church leaders’ men and women to serve the Lord, equipping them to reach others in their communities with the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ in Africa and the World. On finishing their three years training they serve as local Church Pastors, Christian Counselors, and Chaplains in schools, hospitals and prisons. In the counseling training the students are taken to Juvenile Centers and the main prisons to practice counseling.
We are also involved in Church planting, Evangelism and Discipleship. We are currently serving in local church in a very dry and poverty stricken area. The church had very few members when we started serving there but the Lord has continued to increase the church spiritually and numerically. We have in a big way focused on the children who come from the community and the youth and there has been a very positive change happening in the area. We have been involved with a feeding program where we supply food items to the poor in the area and once in a while provide meals at the church. We also support some of the poor kids whose parents cannot afford to educate them with their school fees in high school and some in vocational training.
We also serve in the different community called IDP (Internally Displaced Persons) these are people who live in a concentrated area where they moved after they were affected by political Violence that happened in 2007-2008. These families came in this area to start a new life and life to them has been challenging because of the trauma during the violence most of them lost their family members and others got injured. We do help them start small businesses where we train them how manage a business and make a living to support their families; most of these families are really poor.
You can support any of these different ministries that good Lord has laid in our hearts we have seen Him make change in different people using those who have taken a step of faith to be part of ministry in Kenya and make a difference in the kingdom.
