5.1Demonstration of Calls

From time to time the Company shall demonstrate service by providing free test calls of up to four minutes duration over its network.

5.2Customer Satisfaction Guarantee

New Customers of SBC Connecticut will be given a 90 day Customer Satisfaction Guarantee. The Company will convert the Customer back to the Customer’s original carrier of choice, should the Customer not be satisfied with SBC Connecticut service during the first 90 days from the date of transfer of service. This guarantee is only valid for Customers who are in good standing with SBC Connecticut and want to be converted back to their original carrier. Customers that want to be converted to a carrier other than their original carrier, must do so at their own cost. The Customer will still be responsible for the payment of any and all charges associated with the service provided by SBC Connecticut.

5.3Promotions - General

From time to time the Company shall, at its option, promote subscription or stimulate network usage by offering to waive some or all of the nonrecurring or recurring charges for the Customer (if eligible) of target services for a limited duration, not to exceed 90 days, or by offering premiums or refunds of equivalent value. Such promotions shall be made available to all similarly situated Customers in the target market area.

5.3.1Toll Free Service Promotion

SBC Long Distance East will waive the following Non-Recurring Installation Charge for the period extending through December 26, 2003 (Change charges will not be waived):

Starting February 8, 2003, SBC Long Distance East will offer a credit promotion to Consumer Long Distance Flat Rate $0.07 Customers. The sign-up period for Consumer Long Distance Flat Rate $0.07 Credit Promotion is February 8, 2003 through March 31, 2003 for the Consumer Customers. Service must be activated by March 31, 2003. The promotion is available to Consumer Customers that subscribe to Flat Rate $0.07 for interstate and intrastate calling during the sign-up period. Consumer Customers participating in this promotion will receive a $4.95 credit in the second, third and fourth month billing cycles. This promotion may not be combined with any other promotional offering.

The sign-up period for the Value Plus 60 Promotion is April 1, 2003 through December 31, 2003. Service must be activated by January 5, 2004. This promotion is available to new and existing Residential Customers that (1) subscribe to the optional calling plan, Value Plus 60, during the sign-up period; (2) subscribe to the Company's interstate promotion Value Plus 60 Promotion; (3) maintain the requirements specified in Section 3.5.46 (B) (1), Section 3.5.46 (B) (2) and Section 3.5.46 (C) of this Guidebook; and (4) continue to subscribe to Value Plus 60 for the provision of interstate calling during the benefit period of this promotional offering.

The Company will waive the requirements shown in Section 3.5.46 (E) (1) (a) of this Guidebook for Applicants and Customers participating in this promotion. For Customers participating in this promotion, the following monthly recurring charges and per minute usage rates apply for the first twelve (12) months from day of sign-up.

(A)The monthly recurring charge is $2.00.

(B)The interstate usage rate is $0.05 per minute after the 60 minute block of time has been exhausted.

(C)The intrastate peak rate period usage rate is $0.27 per minute after the 60 minute block of time has been exhausted.

(D)The intrastate off-peak rate period usage rate is $0.17 per minute after the 60 minute block of time has been exhausted.

The peak rate period is 8:00 a.m. to but not including 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The off-peak rate period is all other times. The off-peak rates apply on the following holidays: New Year's Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

If the Customer fails to maintain the requirements specified in Section 3.5.46 (B) (1) Section 3.5.46 (B) (2) and Section 3.5.46 (C) of this Guidebook and/or fails to continue to subscribe to Value Plus 60 for the provision of interstate and intrastate InterLATA calling, the Customer will no longer qualify for the reduced rates listed above.

The usage rates that applies after the expiration of the promotional rate may be found in Section 3.5 of this Guidebook.

5.3.7Toll Free Service Promotion

The Toll Free-No Risk Service Promotion is available to new Business Customers that place an order with the Company for Toll Free Service terminating over Switched Access arrangements from April 4, 2003 through December 26, 2003. Orders for Toll Free Service must be activated by January 26, 2004. This promotion is also available to existing Business Customers that add Toll Free Number(s) to an existing Toll Free Service that terminates over Switched Access arrangements. The existing Business Customer must place an order with the Company for the additional Toll Free Number(s) by December 26, 2003. The additional Toll Free Number(s) must be activated by January 26, 2004.

For Customers that place an order with SBC Long Distance East as described above, the MRC as specified in Section 3.6.1(A)(2)(a) of this Guidebook will be prorated for the current month and thereafter the Customer will not be charged the MRC for the following three full billing cycles following the activation of the additional Toll Free Numbers for existing Customers.

(1) subscribe to interstate- or interstate and intrastate Business Flat Rate Plan Outbound Calling, Business Flat Rate Plan Dedicated Outbound Calling, Business Flat Rate Plan Toll Free Calling, or Business Flat Rate Plan Dedicated Toll Free Calling;

(2)make a MAC of $600, $2,400, $6,000, $12,000, $30,000, $60,000, $120,000, 180,000 or $240,000; and

(3)sign a 1-year, 2-year or 3-year term plan agreement. This promotional offering cannot be combined with any other promotional offering.

(a)Customers or Applicants who meet the requirements described in Section 5.3.8(B) of this Guidebook during the sign-up period will receive a rebate as a sign-up bonus. The amount of the rebate is based on the account MAC level and the length of the term plan; see Section 5.3.8(B)(3)(c) of this Guidebook.
