Rules and Guidelines applicable for publication in ENGINEER

1.The Journal of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka, ENGINEER is published quarterly by The Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka, 120/15, Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo 07, Sri Lanka.

2.Copyright on any article is transferred in full to The Institution of Engineers, upon acceptance for publication in ENGINEER. The copyright transfer includes the right to reproduce and distribute the article in any form of reproduction (printing, electronic media or any other form).

3.Contents appearingin the ENGINEER are Open Access articles published under the Creative Commons CC-BY-ND License (

4.This license permits use, distribution and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited and is not changed in any way.

5.For an article to be accepted for publication, at least one of the authors of the prospective paper should have a membership in any one of the categories in the IESL. However, if you have a high impact finding in or related to, engineering to report, you may submit a paper, though none of the authors have membership in the IESL. It may be accepted for processing if the Editor and the Editorial Board are satisfied of its impact.

6.First author, who ispreferably the corresponding author, should provide a valid email address for correspondence. If any other author wishes to be the corresponding author, it should be clearly indicated in the ‘iesl/journal/offer’ form and a valid email address should be provided.

7.All authors should provide their ORCID IDs, in filling the ‘iesl/journal/offer’ form. If you have not registered for an ORCID ID, please obtain the same by visiting web site.

8.Upon publication of an issue of ENGINEER, it will be uploaded to the Sri Lanka Journals On-Line (SLJOL) where individual papers could be read and downloaded by researchers. This website also contains archives of published issues of ENGINEER, with the facility to download any article of interest.
