Job Summary
The incumbent will be responsibleto grow the portfolio of private and pension portfolios. He/She will also be responsible for managing the operational performance of the Unit and effectively manage the department’s human resources.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Participates in the development and implementation of long term strategies for growing the assets and revenues of the unit and ensures that adequate processes are in place to support these strategies
- Ensures achievement of competitive returns, customer objectives and fee targets for the portfolios under management
- Facilitates the distribution of reports to clients on the performance of the portfolios
- Ensures sound basis for formulating strategy and making investment decisions
- Improves customers’ understanding of the products and services and assists in generating new sales
- Ensures all regulatory requirements are met
- Manages the human resources necessary for the efficient and professional operation of the department
- Ensures accuracy in all client data and processing
- Interacts with third parties external to the company in the performance of the position’s function
- Ensures all strategic goals are met
- Manages risk exposure and adopts and maintains measures to mitigate and reduce risk of the portfolios under management
- Performs all other duties, assignments and special projects as assigned by theGeneral Manager and Senior Management relative to the function
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in a Business related field from a reputable University or other professional qualification from a recognized professional body e.g. CFA, CIMA, ACCA. A minimum of five (5) years progressive experience in the financial services industry specifically in an advisory or portfolio management role with at least two (2) years at a managerial level OR an Executive Diploma/Diploma and seven (7) years progressive experience in banking,specifically in an advisory or portfolio management rolewith at least five (5) years at a Managerial level OR a GMDP Certificate and ten (10) years progressive experience in banking, specifically in an advisory or portfolio management role, with at least seven (7) years at a Managerial level. The ideal candidate must possess knowledge in Finance and investment management of the Financial Sector. Strong leadership, problem solving, analytical and presentation skills are also required.
