Introduction
This workbook is going to be your guide throughout the reading of the book ‘The Hunger Games.’
Your teacher will explain what you need to do for each class. This workbook will be handed in at the end of the course and will be graded.

Lesson 1: Introduction Hunger games
You are going to design your own tribute and present him/her in the next class.

Lesson 2: The Reaping
In the first half of this lesson your teacher will draw four names out of a bowl. The names that are picked need to present their character.
The second half of the lesson will give you time to discuss the book and to answer the following questions:

10 pupils won’t make it to the next round of the game (as you will read, the first hour of the Hunger Games is a true massacre). Make sure you are one of the survivors to still make a change to be a victor and win the victor’s price!
Assignment round 1:
Haymitch is the winner of a previous Hunger Game. Therefore he needs to mentor Katniss and Peeta. Write a short story (100-200 words) about Haymitch’s Reaping. How old was he? What did he do? What did he feel?
You are free to use images, drawings, even short video clips to support your story. Everything to make sure to are not killed in the first round of the Game.
Note: even if you don’t make it to the next round you still need to do all the assignments. They are part of your final grade for this project!
Lesson 2: the games’ preparation.
In this class the teacher will show you which student’s didn’t make it to the second round. Afterwards you’ll have time to answer these questions in groups of four.

Lesson 3: The Games
First you’ll hear which tributes have died in the second round.
After this you’ll discuss the book in groups of four (the teacher will give you questions) and then you individually answer following questions which are the third round of the Game.

Lesson 5: The end
This lesson the winner(s) will be announced and we finish our project on the Hunger Games.
We are going to talk about dilemmas. In the Hunger Games dilemmas and big decisions are important to win. What would’ve happened if Katniss didn’t blow up the Cornucopia and decided to stay safe in the woods?

General information:
My name is Janne and I’m fourteen years old. I have long hair but I think I’m going to cut it, it doesn’t seem handy to have long hair when I start in the Hunger Games.
Which district are you from:
Distruct four, our speciality is fishing. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays I go to school, the other days I help my father and mother with fishing. We hunt the big animals like sharks and sometimes even a whale!
Which relatives and friends do you have?
I have a mother and a father, no siblings. I do, however, have 14 cousins!! All male, can you believe that? I’m the eldest in the family.
Which weapon do you handle well?
Because we hunt the big fishes I’m very well trained in handling the spear.
What is your strongest survival skill?
If there’s water, I’ll manage. I’m an excellent swimmer and I know how to catch fish (and to prepare it to eat it!)
What is your weakest point?
I have hurt my knee when I was 10 on a hunting trip, so I can’t rung long distances, could be a problem don’t you think?
