JOB TITLE: /Community Fundraiser (P/T 22.5hrs)
REPORTS TO: /Head of Community Fundraising
CONTEXT (optional):OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:
To maintain and develop a robust programme of community fundraising activities and events to deliver an annual increase in income (£694k team target 13/14). This includes, but is not limited to, managing the home box scheme, ambassador programme, organising golf events and the annual garden party, as well as supporting groups and individuals organising fundraising events and activities on behalf of the Hospice.
To build support, awareness and income for the Hospice through individual fundraisers and community groups in the Hospice catchment area.
To provide excellent donor careto supportersfor all fundraising activities, to develop productive and lasting relationships with the community and convert them into loyal donors.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial
- To deliver or exceed agreed income targets across community groups, fundraising activities and events.
- To ensure a minimum ROI of 3:1 for all fundraising activities.
- To set and monitor budgets, in conjunction with the Head of Community Fundraising, for each activity/event and ensure they are delivered on target.
- To be an integral part of the Community Fundraising Team in the development of income from individuals, community groups, volunteer fundraising groups and events.
Communication
- To develop strong long-term relationships with community groups, individuals and companies.
- To work effectively and manage key volunteers and volunteer networks to deliver income and successful activities.
- To work with the Communications Team to produce plans that ensure online and offline media coverage and advertising, with the appropriate call to action for community fundraising activities and events
- To ensure all staff and volunteers are thoroughly briefed on relevant activities to ensure an integrated approach.
- To confidently present the key messages of The Hospice of St Francis to individuals, groups and companies to encourage them to support the Hospice, via a variety of media, informal conversations, presentations, written literature and website copy.
- Implement a high level of donor care to maximise fundraising potential and encourage long-term support
- To work closely, in a collaborative environment, with all fundraising team members to assist in maximising overall income for the Hospice.
Planning and Organisation
- To be responsible for developing fundraising income by recruiting and supporting individuals and community groups to organise their own fundraising activities. Writing plans to ensure a high level of tailored donor care for these supporters to ensure long-term support.
- To develop fundraising ideas and plan for medium to large sized initiatives and events that fit within the activities and approach of the Fundraising Department
- To be responsible for developing and managing fundraising support through the organisation of new and existing fundraising campaigns, projects and events. Liaising with the Corporate Fundraising Manager to secure corporate support for these activities.
- To recruit and manage volunteers and resources for all fundraising activities to maximise reach and fundraising potential.
- To produce copy for, and assist in the development of, any promotional materials required within the agreed budget, including website and newsletters.
- To use Donorflex, the fundraising database, to effectively administer and manage fundraising activities, in conjunction with the Donor Development Manager.
Monitoring and reporting
- To ensure all fundraising activities / events are conducted within the agreed budget.
- To produce post-event evaluations and future recommendations for all activities / events, in line with the agreed minimum requirements.
- To produce monthly report of activity and outcomes for Head of Community Fundraising.

- This role needs to be flexible as it includes weekend and evening work
