The horses are on the loose! – PARTNER PFERDoffers exciting supporting programme

The PARTNER PFERD opens its gates for the 15th time from 19 to 22 January. What started in 1998 with a rather small event has now become established as an important venue in the riding sport calendar. In 2012 the PARTNER PFERD is now celebrating an anniversary with an extensive programme. Authentic world cup flair, a large exhibition and a newly designed action ring promise pure horse enjoyment.
“When the PARTNER PFERD started in 1998 there were many reservations whether it would be possible to organise such an event because there were many special requirements associated with it“, remembers Bettina Kaiser, project director for PARTNER PFERD. “The greatest challenge was to rearrange the exhibition hall as a stall, to coordinate the riding and exhibition hall floor appropriate to the species, to fulfil all the requirements of the authorities and to create the best conditions for the riders and caretakers.“ In the 15th year the organisers can now look back on a remarkable development. Since the start of the PARTNER PFERD a total of 723,300 visitors have come to the event. In terms of numbers that means that every 12th inhabitant from Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia came to visit the exhibition facilities over the last years. In a total of 35 exhibition halls and thereby a total surface area of 740,000 square metres, 2,984 exhibitors were welcomed. The extremely popular action ring was designed by 176 participants in 900 demonstrations. Together with the riding sport competitions and evening events, the visitors enjoyed a total of 1400 events over the years. “With this we would have been able to present a daily riding sport highlight for three years and ten months in a row“, explains Bettina Kaiser further. “But it is especially the combination of the many events that makes up the flair of the PARTNER PFERD.“
Action ring – more space for new highlights
Also in 2012 an extensive exhibition awaits the visitors, as well as densely packed supporting programme. The well-known action ring now has numerous new features. Apart from being double the size it now for the first time has its own grandstand seats providing a better view. From the content perspective the action ring also has a lot to offer. For example the traditional art of a Baroque riding will be presented: Baroque era horse breeds, the history of the riding art, as well as riding costumes and riding accessories from the 17th century awaken a long forgotten era. That donkeys are not only working animals but also little artists is proven by the animals of the Noteselhilfe e.V. with the presentation of small circus routines. Things become informative with the demonstration of the Natural Horsemanship-Program. The natural handling of horses according to the teaching of Parellis is demonstrated in various presentations. In addition the action ring offers a special tournament highlight every day, such as the mounted games or western presentations. To conclude the day there is a Best-Of-Show every day between 18 and 19 p.m. with the highlights of the day.
Riding gear from A-Z
Regardless of whether well proven products or trendy innovations – the roughly 250 regional and supra-regional exhibitors offer everything for horse and rider. In addition the exhibition area is also the collection point for participants in the schoolchildren's rally. “Prompting“ by the experts in the stands is thereby allowed when the young participants are called to answer questions revolving around the topic of horses. Prizes like horse books, horse calendars or leather care sets await the best participants. The entrance for kindergartens and schools, as well as day nursery groups with their accompanying supervisors is free on Thursday, the VNG family day. And families can also come to the exhibition at a cheaper price on presentation of a coupon.
Sport highlights and glamorous show
The 15th PARTNER PFERD offers the special atmosphere of world-class sports. During the four days of the event the World Cup qualifications in the disciplines jumping, vaulting and four-in-hand driving will be held. National and international artists will be presenting themselves in more than 20 riding sport competitions. Highlight for the region is the finale of the PARTNER PFERD Cup. In the past months riders of all ages at a total of 13 locations in the newly-formed German states demonstrated their abilities in show jumping. At the PARTNER PFERD the best from the preliminaries will be able to win the coveted trophies. In addition two exciting evening events with sport and show elements round off the exhibition days. Highlight is the Sparkassen Sport-Gala on Friday with three World Cup qualifications – an exciting experience that is only to be seen in this form in Leipzig. Special presentations under the motto “Mini meets Maxi – the show of opposites“ round off the show. In the Wernesgrüner Pferdenacht on Saturday it will be decided who will win the Leipzig World Cup leg in vaulting. Tied in with this are the popular Wernesgrüner time jumping, a large surprise show, as well as the barrier jumping, before the evening ends with the show-jumping course party.

The PARTNER PFERD is the worldwide largest hall riding sport event. It opens its gates already for the 15th time from 19 to 22 January 2012 at the Leipzig exhibition facilities.
