Dear The Honorable Michael Tien Puk-sun

Invitation

We are the business communication class at Chu Hai College of Higher Education. Our whole class takes great pleasure in inviting you to come and share your views with us on education, language learning, democracy and the prospects of Hong Kong.

Before we go on any further, let us take this opportunity to congratulate you on your successful election to the Legislative Council. You and your fellow councilors were sworn in just yesterday, so you are truly a new kid on the block. We suppose you are still feeling your way around your new office. We sincerely hope you will serve well your constituents – the people of Hong Kong.

Other than a Legislative Councilor, you are also a member of Tsuen Wan District Council. Since our College is presently located at Tsuen Wan and many of us do live here, we would be interested to learn from you the councilor any new developments that may affect us in this area. We remember very well your election slogan when you were running for the District Council last year: “If others can’t do it well, I’ll do it!” What a slogan! And what vigor! For this breadth of spirit, and other things you have done and said, a number of us have become your fans. Still, we know that things are easier said than done. So we would want to hear from you your vision for your terms of both the District Council and the Legislative Council.

You may not realize this, the Honourable Michael Tien Puk-sun – we know, addressing you this way and this long soundsstrange, but our teacher says this is the proper way, or is it? Since you had been the chairman of the Standing Committee on Language Education and Research, we can’t think of anyone else more qualified to enlighten us on this matter -- but the fact is that your presence will be a great boost to us.Many of us still remember vividly the memorable scene when you said in front of TV that you were not quite an old friend of the then CEO of Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation. That kind of freshness is almost never heard of in this world! It beats even when you appeared in the documentary living the life of the poor.

Our suggested date and time:

Date: 15 November 2012 (Thursday)
Time: 4:30 – 6: 00 pm
Location: Chu Hai College of Higher Education, Yi Lok Street, Tsuen Wan.

We understand you are very busy. You have to be. Other than the two hats of councilors you are wearing now, you are also the vice-chairman of New People's Party. And of course, you may still spend some time running your business The G2000, plus with the various public services you have been involved in. So if you find our suggested details inconvenient, we can always make accommodation to your presence. On second thought, we would like to take the liberty to invite you to invite us to your new office at the Legislative Council Complex instead. It would save you time and a trip to Tsuen Wan, and would give us a good excuse to be away from school in school hours. The new complex looks really impressive on TV, and none of us have been inside it.In addition to listening and sharing with you, may we ask you to show us around the complex? If you would like to treat us to a dinner there, we would graciously accept it.

Please give MissTang Siu Ting, our class representative, a call at 6938-8090, or email her at r this and any other arrangements. Thank you.

Sincerely yours

1
