Engage and Energize Productive Student Learners

Dear Young Families,

The week has gone by quickly and students have settled nicely into the school routine.

This past Tuesday, our staff participated in a wonderful professional development opportunity about utilizing Kagan Cooperative Structures during our classroom instruction.Kagan Structures are instructional tools that teachers use to maximize the level of student engagement as well as student discussion during learning time. The Young staff is looking forward to incorporating these strategies within our daily teaching.

This week, we’ve had our first set of field trips. Fourth Grade students visited Danada Farms for a “Down on the Farm” field trip that featured a presentation on the lives and legacy of Dan and Ada Rice along with a tractor drawn hayride to the 1950’s Danada Model Farm. Fourth grade students were also introduced to local ecosystems, learned about the importance of agriculture in daily lives, and farming practices of the 1950’s.

Enjoy the weekend.
