The Holy Spirit 2

John 14: 26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Jesus was talking to the disciples and letting them know that when He went back to the Father He was not going to leave them alone, but He would send us the Comforter, and the Comforter was going to teach us ALL things. Jesus did not say He was going to teach us some things, but ALL things. That is powerful. It gets better yet. The Comforter (HOLY GHOST) was going to bring all things that Jesus has taught to remembrance to us.

John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

John 16: 13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come.

14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall show it unto you.

15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall show it unto you.

The disciples were having a hard time understanding what Jesus was saying and why He was leaving. When you study the gospels you will see how confused the disciples were at times when Jesus spoke to them.

Acts 1: 4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.

Acts 1: 8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

The disciples stayed in Jerusalem and waited for the promise of the Father.

Acts 2: 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Immediately, after this happened the disciples went about with power and miracles, sign and wonders. God is Love and when they were filled with the Holy Spirit they were filled with Love.

The Early Church did not have the Bible to read, like we do. They had the Holy Spirit to teach them, and guide them. They relied on Him only. The book of Acts is the Holy Spirit in demonstration and power.

The Old Testament saints did not have the Holy Spirit indwelling them, (living in them) He only came upon them, as God needed them to get His WORD out to the people. When you read the Old Testament you will see that the people could not even obey the Ten Commandments. They were operating in the sense realm and they could not do it on their own. They did not have the Holy Spirit (power) in them to help them change. They kept rebelling against God.

I hear a lot of people saying and teaching that The Holy Ghost, and speaking in tongues was only in the Early Church days. I have news for everyone. God does not change. He is the same today, as He was then. All of His Word is still working in these days and times. So many are missing the power they need in their lives to help us in the things of the Lord and to help in our everyday life, because of false belief.

My Lord and Savior have given us everything we need to live. Jesus did come that we might have life and have it more abundantly.

Do you not know that we have the Spirit of God dwelling in us? I have heard people say, I don’t think this Holy Ghost (Spirit) is for me, but in this next scripture listen to what Jesus says.

Luke 11: 13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

Jesus is saying here that all you have to do is ask and you will have the Holy Spirit. The scripture is very plain and simple. It is for everyone, but you have to do something. ASK. You need the Holy Spirit to understand the things of the spirit. These next scriptures Jesus is talking to Nicodemus and please meditate on these scriptures.

John 3:1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:

2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.

3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?

5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Jesus was telling Nicodemus that you must be born again to understand the Kingdom of God, because flesh cannot understand the things of the spirit. I hope that now you are beginning to see why the Holy Spirit is so important.

Have you ever tried to study the Bible and it did not make sense to you? If you have not been born again it will not make since to you. If you have been born again the Holy Spirit does live in you, but if you do not believe, He will indwell quietly and not interfere. He is a perfect gentleman and will not force you to depend on you.

Now that I have showed you whothe Holy Spirit is and what He is, we are going into why do we need Him.

Remember, Jesus said in John 14; 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

In our everyday life we do need comfort, but sometimes we think that we have no one around when we need that comfort, but look at what Jesus just said, He would not leave us comfortless. You have the greatest Comforter dwelling on the inside of you. Remember He is a gentleman, so we must allow Him to comfort us.

The Holy Spirit is Real and is living in us, longing to be a part of our everyday life. He wants to guide us in every area. He wants to be included in the decisions of your family. Remember He is the Spirit of Truth. We need Him. As we all are seeing the end times drawing near, and things in the World are changing. Even though a child of God lives in the World, we are not of this World, and we are to think only on the things from above, we can only do that with the Holy Spirit operating in our lives. Sometimes the things around us will try to draw us away from God, but with the Holy Spirit guiding and teaching we will not fall away. It is important that you develop an intimate relationship with Our Father (The Holy Spirit) so that we know His voice. When you know His voice, you will follow.

Have you ever been driving somewhere and you get this prompting or Unction to take a left turn instead of the right turn you usually make. Guess what the Holy Spirit probably just kept you from being in an accident or from being tied up in traffic for 2 hours.

There are so many times I know that people have had a prompting to do something differently, but chose to ignore that prompting, and then later said; (I should have done it differently)

The Holy Spirit works on our behalf; He is our partner, our friend, and our comforter. He teaches us to love those we do not want to love, those that have hurt us. He teaches us how to forgive those that do not deserve to be forgiven. It is only through allowing Him to possess our lives can we do that. We cannot do it on our own.

1 John 2: 20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.

1 John 2: 27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

Are there times that you are so weary that you do not feel like praying? Let’s see what the Word says.

Romans 8: 26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

The Holy Spirit not only maketh intercession for us, He does it according to the will of God. I am glad that I have the Holy Spirit to help me pray.

The Holy Spirit is the best Business partner you could ever have. When you depend on Him to teach you how to run a business, it will prosper.

Romans chapter 8 has so many promises about the Holy Spirit. I am going to list some of them but I encourage you to read the whole Chapter of Romans 8, you will be blessed.

Romans 8: 11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

The Holy Spirit will even quicken our mortal body and He bears witness that we are the children of God.

I was raised in a traditional background and was not taught about having a personal relationship with Jesus, so I tried to do everything without the power of the Holy Spirit, but I could not. I tried to change myself, but the changes would only be temporary. I tried to forgive but it was so hard, and I thought I knew how to love. I did not understand peace, because I very seldom had peace. Whenever I was going through trials, I would panic, and not have peace. I would always look at the circumstances and could not see a way out.

One day something wonderful happened to me, I met the Holy Ghost and wow; my life has not been the same. He has taught me what real love is, how to have joy, how to have peace even in the midst of a storm, and to forgive. He has revealed so much to me in the Word that I could not understand, without Him. He really is a person, but so many see Him as an it. He is The Spirit of love, Love is God.

Ephesians 1: 13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise,

14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

Ephesians 4: 30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Do you know it grieves the Holy Spirit when we do not include Him in our daily life?

I hope that this teaching has helped you to understand more about the Spirit of God; The Holy Spirit, my best Friend.
