So, how does a local East County Coin Club conduct a highly successful Coin Show? Our answer is to have John Weiss, 2nd Vice President of the Heartland Coin Club, put together an outstanding team and let them “have at it”. If you missed it, you missed the singularly best Coin Show EVER put on by this club. You may ask, “best ever?” YES! Yes, indeed; measured by the overwhelming positive responses from the dealers, effusively favorable comments from customers, plus a new record “best ever” bottom line financial report reflecting a profit of $1,770.00 for our 1 day show, my highest commendation and congratulations go out to John and his team with many thanks from the club for a job well done. Unwilling to rest on his laurels, despite the event surpassing everyone's expecations, John has indicated his intention to strive for even greater success with a goal to reach or exceed a profit of $2000 for our next show. John, I have every confidence in your ability, and believe you will achieve that mark in the very near future.

CAN YOU GUESS WHO DONE IT?

Being that your resident inquisitor had a family memorial to attend at the same time as the last meeting, the same questions from last month are being held over. Therefore, each person that has already answered correctly still has a shot at a prize, as do other members that might still wish to avail themselves of the opportunity to identify these high profile individuals known for their advanced knowledge in numismatics. Take your shot at naming these two persons, and you may find yourself the winner of a nice prize from our replenished prize pool. Responses can be made to your editor up until the start of the meeting by e-mail, telephone, or in prison!!

He was well known locally for representing an east county theme park entrepreneur on trial for murder more than 30 years ago. Who is he?
  1. This legendary numismatist was an expert in virtually every field of American coinage. He authored numerous numismatic works including an encyclopedia of U.S. coins. Unfortunately, his deviant tendencies got the better of him; this brilliant legend of the hobby was convicted of molestation and died in prison. Who was he?
