May 4, 2016
Dear Parents,
We are excited to announce that St. Dorothy School will celebrate St. Dot’s Spirit Day on Friday, May 20, 2016. Spirit Day will begin with a prayer service in the church at 9:15am, after which the students will walk to Dermond Field, where they will have a picnic lunch and participate in field games designed to have fun and show their school spirit. The children will return to school around 1:30, in time for regular dismissal. Because the majority of the day will be spent outdoors, we ask that you apply sunscreen to your child(ren) before sending them to school on May 20th. Permission slips were sent home today. Please return completed permission slips no later than May 18. Children may wear their gym uniforms.
The goal of Spirit Day is to celebrate St. Dot’s school spirit and pride. To proudly show off their St. Dot’s spirit, all students will receive a St. Dot’s “Spirit Day” water bottle, compliments of our Platinum Sponsors and a sling bag from Republic Bank, courtesy of Mr. Dennis Wolf. Each student will also receive a soft pretzel and water ice, compliments of the Home & School Association. Water stations will also be set up at Dermond Field for the children to use throughout the day.
All students who are interested will also have the option to purchase lunch from Chik-fil-A. Lunch order forms are included and must be completed and returned to school no later than Friday, May 13. Students who do not wish to purchase lunch should pack a brown bag lunch.
As part of the day’s events, each student’s name will also be entered in a random drawing with a chance to win one of various prizes made possible by the generous donations of St. Dorothy’s community partners. Prizes include sports camps, tickets, and memorabilia, as well as museum passes and gift cards. The Spirit Day Committee will continue collecting prizes until May 13. If you would like to donate a prize for the Spirit Day drawings, please contact Maureen Julien at .
Finally, we are asking for your help to ensure that this day is a success. A sign up genius will be sent out later this week requesting volunteers to help supervise games, walk with the children to and from Dermond Field, set up and clean up, distribute lunch, and provide various items necessary for Spirit Day. As always, we appreciate any time or assistance that you can offer.
Should you have any questions please feel free to contact Maureen Julien at
