SUMMARY

12 years of living and working as a court interpreter and legal translator in the USA. Native speaker of Russian with culturally competent near-native fluent English (American) and conversant British English language skills. 20 years experience as a translator/interpreter in many technical fields, specializing in law and medicine. Over 5 years of employment experience in “Pre-paid legal services” (USA) sharpened knowledge of English legal terminology.

During 12 years in the USA, translated a great many depositions, witness statements, legal documents of various natures. Many times performed duties of court interpreter in Istanbul (Turkey), Hong Kong (China), Atlanta (USA), Prague (Czech Republic) during litigations involving Russian parties. For 10 years worked as court interpreter and freelance legal translator in many County, State and Federal Courts of the USA in the State of Georgia.

Extensive travel/work/study throughout the United States of America produced fluent spoken English and an ability to understand many American dialects and colloquialisms.

Since I have an extensive background in court interpreting and legal translating, I test court interpreters and translators for different organizations, providing certification to linguists working in the eponymous field; assist in issuing certificates of court interpreter and/or legal translator countries where the Dept of Justice requires such accreditation.

Ø  Consortium for State Court Interpreter Certification written exam, Part One Score: 95 (November 2007); Parts Two and Three combined, Score: 88 (April 2008).

Ø  ACTFL English Oral Proficiency Rating: Superior, March 27, 2008.

Ø  Pacific Interpreters telephonic interpreter oral exam - interpreting skills, terminology, ethics. Received a test score of 100% on Conversion Skills and 98% on Legal Terminology. Tested December 23, 2007.

Ø  Pacific Interpreters language proficiency test to be trained as a court interpreter. Received a bilingual Russian-English oral language facility score of “Superior.” Tested October 23, 2006.
