2016 Scholarship Application Form

It is the intention of the George Chiu Scholarship Foundation to provide awards supporting the skill development of deserving Junior Golfers of Chinese Heritage.

This year we are proud to announce that four awards have been made available to those meeting the specified criteria and selected by the George Chiu Scholarship Foundation Selection Committee.

Each recipient will be awarded a one year golf club membership to a maximum of $800 at the golf course of their choice. This golf membership allows the scholarship winners to practice their golf skills regularly and to further improve their golf and social skills.

Selected applicants must meet all requirements before consideration of this award.

Criteria for Awarding Scholarships

a) Character.

b) Leadership.

c) Essay.

d) Volunteerism.

e) Letters of Recommendation.

f) Participation in the George Chiu Golf Classic and Junior Golf Program.

g) Junior players who participated in the 2016 George Chiu Classic Tournament that are still aged 16 and under at the time they played in this event are eligible to apply for this scholarship.

h) Submitting the completed application form by October 31st, 2016.

a) Please prepare an essay describing your goals and experiences with the game of golf. Explain how you would benefit from receiving this award. Please be sure that all facts are verifiable and are authentic. The length of this essay may be a minimum of one typewritten page to a maximum of two.

b) Is there any other information that the Selection Committee should know about you? This is your opportunity to include information in the space provided that is not contained in other areas of the application. Please be specific.

Award Recipients

Scholarship winners will be expected to attend a Press Conference and Luncheon in April/May of 2017 to be honored by the George Chiu Scholarship Foundation and local media.

Submitting Your Application

Please submit the following to be considered for the George Chiu Scholarship Foundation:

  1. Completed application form.
  1. Letters of recommendation from any of the following: School Facility, Academic Instructor, Golf Club, Golf Professional, Golf Instructor, School Counselor or similar.

3. Copies if applicable, of any newspaper clippings or other achievement /award records etc.

4. Please email the completed application form together with the relevant letters and documents to:

An acknowledgement of your scholarship application will be sent to you by email upon receipt of your application.

Deadline for Submission is October 31, 2016

Award Winners will be notified by December 31, 2016
