  • As the Bellevue West / Bellevue East basketball game approaches this week, it’s important to remind everyone that good sportsmanship is a priority for us all at Bellevue West. We feel we have quality students at West and expect good sportsmanship at all of our athletic contests. It is important to the school and the community to keep that perception of our school positive by asking everyone to be supportive and enthusiastic of our teamon Fridaynight and also be respectful of our opponents. Any out of control, rude or derogatory behavior or comments will not be tolerated. Negative comments, chants, or gestures towards the teams, officials, visiting students or parents are totally unacceptable.
Attending school activities is a privilege and students exhibiting these behaviors will be removed from the event immediately.
We want everyone to enjoy the game and show the community we have a lot enthusiasm, school spirit, and class here at Bellevue West. Let’s be loud and supportive of our team and have a good time!

  • I hope that each of you took a moment to think about why we were not in school Monday, it wasn’t just a day off, but a day to remember one of the greatest civil rights leaders our country has ever known, Martin Luther King Jr. In his famous “I have a dream” speech shared with 250,000 people on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in August of 1963, he stated, “I say to you today, my friends, though, even though we face the difficulties of today andtomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up, live out the true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men (and women) are created equal”.
Martin Luther Kings dream is as applicable today as it was in 1963.
As a Bellevue West community we need to hold on to all that we believe in.
We must continue to believe in the innate goodness of all and everyone’s right to be treated with dignity and respect.
We must continue to work to make his dream a reality. Make today and everyday one where all can feel welcome and respected.
