CYCC 2015: Directions

All start locations are reached from Route 89 on the west side of Cayuga Lake. Look for signs on 89 to direct you to the start locations. The signs carry our logo and the “CanYou Canoe Cayuga?” title.

Directions to find the rest stops from the water will be given to you in your registration papers on the day. Signs will be placed to be visible from the water.

The four start locations/rest stops & event end point!

Cayuga Lake State Park is located just off 89 just east of Seneca Falls and just south of Garden Street. It is well sign-posted. The launch site is at the north end of the park at a boat launch ramp. We will have a registration table set up near the launch site. You may park your car for the day nearby, and may have to pay an entrance or access fee.

Dean’s Cove Marine State Park is directly off 89 about 1 mile south of Goosewatch Winery or if coming from the south soon after Vine Yard Road and about 6 miles north of the Sheldrake Winery turn off. The launch site is a ramp into a small protected harbor. You can park your car at the launch site.

Sheldrake Winery is east of 89 on the lakeshore and is well sign-posted. There are several turns and all are signed to the winery – follow them! The launch site is opposite the winery parking at their dock. You will be able to park your car at the back of the winery.

Taughannock Falls StatePark is located just off 89 and is well sign-posted. There are two entrances and we will be using the SOUTHERN entrance, on the SOUTHside of Taughannock Creek. You can leave your car parked nearby if you wish. There may be an entrance or access fee.

Finishing the event: As paddlers approach the event’s end point in Cayuga Inlet, boats should enter the Inlet on the right (west) side, and pass the Treman Marine Park marina entrance.

Look for a boat launch on the right (west) shore of the inlet a few hundred feet upstream of the marina. We will have a table for recording your finish and will help with your boat.

The party is in Cass Park adjacent to the landing area. Ithaca’s Cass Park is located off 89 along Cayuga lnlet.

Rides back to cars at Taughannock and Sheldrake will be coordinated at the party via a sign-in sheet.
