Students, our 3rd 9-week exams will be here before you know it. All instructional fees will need to be paid to your teacher and club fees to your sponsor. All computerdamage fees will need to be paid to Mrs. Accardo. If you are on the fees list, you will not be able to take your exams.

Cheer Tryouts

Sign ups for CHS cheer tryouts will begin Thursday, February 12 until Thursday, February 26 at 3:45 pm. Those who are interested need to pick up an informational letter and permission slip from the front office. Both must be signed and returned to the CHS office by the deadline.

The mandatory meeting for all candidates for all schools that have turned in permission slips and meet MHSAA eligibility will be on Tuesday, March 3, at 6 p.m. in the CHS auditorium. If a parent/legal guardian of the candidate does not attend the meeting, the candidate is no longer eligible to try out for cheerleader.

The instructor clinic to teach cheer and dance will be on Wednesday, March 18. Subsequent practice clinics will be on Thursday, March 19 and Friday, March 20.

Tryouts for Clinton High School will be on Tuesday, March 24.

Congratulations to these DECA State Winners Jade Stolley 1st place, Mallorie Wilson 1st Place, Mandy Fendlason 1st Place, Emily Mosley 2nd Place and Mackenzie Thomas 3rd Place. All winners are eligible togo to Orlando for the International Competition!! Way to go Arrows!!!

STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  1. Are you interested in a career in health care? If so, Health Science is a great class for you to take. Students in Health Science learn about health care careers, skills and information that is helpful in choosing a college major. Don't miss out. Sign up for Health Science during registration for the 2015-16 school year.
  2. February is National Career and Technical Education Month. The Career and Technical Education fact for Tuesday is:STEM Occupations such as environmental engineering technicians require an associate degree and will experience faster than average job growth. CHSCC offers several classes in the STEM Academy such as Automotive, Construction/Carpentry, Engineering and Information Technology.
  1. There are several CPE applications that are incomplete. Please make sure that you get your teacher recommendations to Mrs. Foshee by Wednesday of this week.
  2. 10th grade STEM Academy students - we have two opportunities for you to tour an amazing facility in the STEM industry. We will be taking a group of students to the Nissan plant and another group to the Boeing Company on March 25. Sign up with a STEM teacher if interested.
  3. ANCHOR CLUB: Stop by Mrs. Berry's room to pick up a list of service opportunities for the spring. Also,a list of each student's service credits are posted. Remember that you must have 3 credits by the end of the year.
  4. Mr. Chapman has forms for students to fill out and bring back to purchase a yearbook which are on sale for $70.00. They can either turn their money and form in to me or go online and purchase a yearbook at All information can be found on my School Wires account under “The Arrow.”

GUIDANCE OFFICE ANNOUNCEMENTS

Scholarship packets are available in the Counselor's office for seniors. Each packet contains several scholarships.

If you are applying to the MS Governor's school the deadline has been extended until Feb. 25th.

The National Latin Exam will be given on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 during the activity period. Those students participating should report directly to the assigned classroom.

Are you interesting building your resume by helping others or earning volunteer hours? If so, come to the counselors' office to sign up to be apart of the Peer Tutoring Club. The only requirement is that you have a minimum GPA of a 3.0. There are no fees or dues.

The Clinton High School Alumni Association is offering two scholarship opportunities for Clinton High School Seniors. Please pick up an application in the Counselors' office.

Are you attending JSU in the fall? If you are interested in a STEM summer program stop by the counselor's career center to pick up an application.

2015The Rotary Club of Jackson Mentor Scholarship Program application is in the career center in the counselor's office. This scholarship program is a maximum $16,000 total grant, payable at up to $4,000 per year for four years. Pick up a flyer in the office to learn about the applicant eligibility requirements.

Tougaloo College will host the SLAM (Science, Language Arts, and Mathematics) Program for high school students. The SLAM program's goal is to help minority students have the necessary backgrounds to pursue health careers. Any sophomore or junior that is interested in this summer program can pick up an application packet in the Counselor's office. The deadline is March 27, 2015.

The James Doyle Case Memorial Scholarship Award will be rewarding 2 scholarships of $6,000 each to a student who is legally blind or the child of an individual who is legally blind. For more information about this scholarship, pick up a flyer in the career center in the counselor's office.
