2017-2018 SCHOLARSHIPS

The scholarships listed in the packet are local and national scholarships available to Otter Valley students. This list is just a listing of the scholarships that we currently are aware of. Please know that the deadlines listed in this packet are based on the 2016-2017 deadline dates. We will announce new/additional scholarships as soon as they become available. Please know that there are several scholarships and information about scholarships at each school you are applying to. Information is also available on the Otter Valley Guidance Web page.

** The following is a list of steps needed to attain a scholarship application.**

  1. Listen to the announcements and view announcements @ OVUHS.org. We include scholarship information on every announcement.
  1. Use the Scholarship Index file located on the scholarship file cabinet in Guidance to identify scholarships that may apply to you. The index is updated weekly.
  1. Attain a scholarship application from the file drawer.If it is the last copy left, please let Ms. Bishop know so she can make additional copies.
  1. If you need a transcript attached to the scholarship, please ask Ms. Bishop to print you one.
  1. If you haven’t done so already, fill out a brag sheet as well as a resume make photocopies of both, and give these sheets to three teachers, coaches, employers…etc. so that you can add them to your scholarship application. Most applications request at least one letter of recommendation.
  1. Make photocopies of all scholarships sent!
  1. Send thank you notes to all who have written letters of recommendation for you. (You just may need these letters updated in the future) Also, if you are given a scholarship, it is highly recommended that you send a note of thanks to the person/organization that have generously assisted you financially.
