The Flute Library

Welcome to the Flute Library, an initiative for Southern Cross Flutes that is a first of its kind. The following document outlines important information about the library, and needs to be read and agreed upon. To use the Flute Library means you accept the terms and conditions outlined below.

Goals

To provide cost effective opportunities to learn and discover on a Native American Style Flute.
To promote the various styles of flutes as crafted by Southern Cross Flutes.
To grow and support the NAF (Native American Style Flute) community within New Zealand

Terms and Conditions

Your rental flute is for your own private use and should not be loaned to any other person.
Only one flute can be borrowed at a time.
The borrowing term begins from the date of your flute arrival to you, or 4 days following postage by Southern Cross Flutes, whichever comes first.
Maximum borrowing term is four months from date of arrival. Your borrowed flute should be resent back four months from this date. Minimum borrow term is two months.
Return your borrowed flute in the same packaging that it arrived in. Your package has been pre-paid for its return postage to Southern Cross Flutes. NZ ParcelPost is a tracked service and must be used.
All borrowed items need to be returned to Southern Cross Flutes LTD. You will receive a flute, a flute case, an instructional booklet, and any other resources you’ve requested.
All borrowed items should be free from damage. If damages occur, you will be liable for the cost of repairs or replacement.

Costs

The following borrowing costs are on a bi-monthly basis.

Flutes: $70
Postage: $20 NZ wide. Payment for return postage is the responsibility of the borrower.

Fine Print

Damage to a flute constitutes scratches into the surface, cracking or breaking by force and negligent care (leaving in the sun, by a fire place, in the car etc.).
Damage to a flute can require repair costs from $30-$100, or full replacement cost of up to $500.
Lost or damaged instructional booklet requires a full replacement cost of $15.
Any payment for damage, destroyed or lost items must be made within two weeks of returning the flute or informing me of the situation.

Flutes Available

The following flutes are available for borrowing in the keys of:

Forest Flutes: A, G, and D minor pentatonic

Love Flutes: A, G and F# minor pentatonic

Grandfather Flutes: D and B minor pentatonic

Membership

Your personal details will be held as part of the agreement for borrowing, as well as to establish a database of borrowers for the future. All personal details are kept securely and not used for any other purpose than required for communicating directly with you.
