The Fit for Work Team-Label Apeel Case Study

Who we are

Label Apeel are a Leicestershire manufacturing firm who produce bespoke self-adhesive labels. We currently have 47 employees and a company turnover of £4million.

Where we were

In April 2012 the organisation were forced to ask all staff to go on a 4 day week due to poor sales in Q1 of 2012. Our staff turnover was at 23%, average uncertified sickness at 2.8 days per employee and 3 employees were signed off on long term sick leave due to work related stress.

What we did

We engaged with The Fit for Work Team in Leicester who provided us with a tailored Health at Work Service to help us identify our priorities.

The Fit for Work Team invited our employees to complete a very short and simple questionnaire which then enabled us to focus in on our key areas of need.

The Fit for Work Team then worked with us to create a targeted action plan based on the assessed needs of our employees. This gave us a substantial platform and allowed us to plan our health and wellbeing programme for the year in a timely and cost effective way.

The Fit for Work Team placed a strong emphasis on the importance of employee engagement and employee voice throughout the process. We listened to our staff and created an empowering environment that enabled people to make positive lifestyle changes.
