Purpose and objectives of the competition.

- developing the internal life, artistic taste and careful attitude towards musical traditions in the younger generation;

- introducing children, teenagers and youth to national culture and musical performing arts, including accordion playing;

- support of talented soloists and active performance groups, demonstration of their achievements;

- popularization of modern original accordion music;

- development and support of the creative potential of the youth;

- creative exchange and getting acquainted with the best teaching practices in the general educational, pre-professional and professional directions of musical education in various country:

- professional development of teaching staff for basic, middle and higher level educational institutions of various countries;

- getting acquainted with new production of various firms manufacturing chromatic accordions and other harmonicas;

1.Conditions for participation in the competition

To participate in the competition the participants need to submit an application according to form to the Organizing Committee of the competition. The applications are accepted up to June 17, 2013.
The competition is open for participation of accordion and button accordion players from 5 years old and up, children’s, youth and adult performance groups and orchestras. The participant (soloist or group) has the right to participate in several nominations under the condition of filling out a separate application questionnaire for each nomination. The information about participants sent to the organizational committee is used in the advertising materials of the festival.

Besides participants, persons accompanying them can also be among invitees to the festival competition. The number of participants and accompanying persons is not limited.

2.Panel of judges.

The festival competition panel of judges includes well-known performers and cultural figures of the accordion world of various countries, including Estonia, Russia, Lithuania, Latvia, Byelorussia.

3.Competition categories

Categories of participants and competitional conditions for performance programs
1 category:

Soloists up to and including 13 years of age
Free choice of music pieces to the discretion of the participant (duration from 9 min to 12 min)

2 category:

Soloists up to and including 15 years of age
(duration from 12 min to 16 min).

3 category:

Soloists up to and including 18 years of age

Free choice of music pieces to the discretion of the participant, should include original works for accordion or button accordion (duration from 16 min to 20 min)

Professional performing category:

Soloists from 19 years and older

1st round


The performance program, free and diverse in its artistic goals, should consist solely of original works or works transcribed or adapted for chromatic accordion (button accordion), and also a fugue from any time period with no less than 3 voices. Duration 18-22 min

2nd round

Free performance program consisting solely of original works for chromatic accordion (button accordion) has to include a cyclical composition – a concerto, a sonata, a suite etc.. Duration from 26 min to 35 min.

4 category:

Ensembles (any complement of instruments including at least one accordion-button accordion)

Age categories

·  A – ensembles can have up to 30% members older than 18.

·  Free program for performance from 13 to 16 minutes inclusive.

·  B – ensembles without age limits

·  Free program for performance from 15 to 20 minutes inclusive.

5 category:

Orchestras (any complement of instruments including at least one accordion-button accordion)

Age categories and programs

·  А – orchestras can have up to 20% members older than 18

·  Free program for performance from 15 to 17 min inclusive,

·  B – orchestras without age limits

·  Free program for performance from 17 to 20 min inclusive.

6 category (nonclassical musical genres: jazz, folk, crossover etc.)

Soloists (without age limitations)

Free program for performance from 10 to 15 min.

It is possible to perform the competition program using a “-1” recording as accompaniment.

4. Financial conditions

Registration fee (1 nomination):

·  Soloists – 35 eur

·  Ensembles and orchestras – 15 eur. from every participant.

·  In case of the participant competing in two or more categories for each following category 50% of registration fee is paid.

Participants of the festival competition can participate in a master class and receive a commemorative International certificate. Master class fee – 30 c.u


Price for the stay through the whole of the competition – 6 days – for participants: 420 eur. In case of independent arrival to the competition the price of the stay is 350 eur

The price includes:

- transfer Saint Petersburg – Tallinn – Saint Petersburg,

- residence in a comfort class spa hotel,

- residence in a comfort class spa hotel; the Ecoland 3* hotel is located in an ecologically clean district of Tallinn. The fortunate location of the hotel will allow you to enjoy the quietness and the nature and to relax after the bustle of the city.

-full board (breakfast (buffet), lunch and dinner )

- transfer within Tallinn

-sightseeing program, (obligatory and individual with prior booking)

- entertainment program for participants of the competition.
All the services are offered only through the Organizing Committee and approved by participants individually. The participants pay a registration fee for participating in the competition.

5. Distribution of awards.

Award winners are determined according to the results of the competition.

Professional performing category

1st prize: 1500.00 euro.
2nd prize: 625.00 eur.
3rd prize: 375.00 eur.

The participants are awarded laureate diplomas of I, II, III degrees, award diplomas, certificates of participation. There are also special prizes and awards for the participants of the competition. By the decision of the panel Grand Prix can be awarded to the participant acknowledged as the best performer in the professional performing category. All the participants are awarded diplomas for participation and commemorative souvenirs. The panel has a right not to give awards in all the categories. The decision of the panel is final and not subject to revision. The results of the competition are announced at the final concert, and the marks given by the judges to each participant are displayed for the attention of the public.

6. Registration of participants

Attention! Participation in the competition is possible only by preliminary application before

June 17, 2013.

To participate in the competition you need to submit the following to the organizing committee in an electronic format:

·  Application for participation (sent by demand)

·  Characteristic of soloist/group as performer(s);

·  Copy of passport (or birth certificate) of participant(s);

·  Photo (electronic)

·  Program of performance

·  Copy of receipt for payment of registration fee.

7. Requisites

Requisites are sent to the applicant after receiving the application for participation. Please submit the requisites for drawing up contracts and issuing invoices BEFORE arriving to the competition. The original copies of the documents (contract, invoice) will be submitted after the arrival to the Competition.
